We all can agree that trust and friendship work hand in hand because without trust, there can't really be friendship. And this is because they both have a lot in common, one being that a broken trust or friendship is hard to amend and it's so sad because things like this take years to build and just one silly mistake can destroy eveeything.

About a week ago, sometime around 8am, I was still in bed when I heard my neighbors arguing. At first I didn't want to get up because I kinda have this rule that nothing gets me up from bed before ten in the morning unless it's the end of the world and the noise I was hearing that morning sounded like it was indeed the end of the world so I got up to go investigate.

It turned out that my neighbor's money was missing, about N26000 (about $34 if you're using the black market convertion rate).

The dude whose money was missing clearly had two suspects, his girlfriend and his friend who was staying with him at the time. And this was because no one else goes into his room except this two. So automatically, he accused his friend of stealing his money.

Before I go any further, here's a little back story of how his friend happen to be living with him.

Few weeks ago, his friend was in Dubai but got deported. If you're a Nigerian, you know how shameful it is to return back home empty handed after your family had sold almost everything they had to send you abroad just so you could go hustle and make it big, so instead of going back home, he called his friend (my neighbor) and asked him if he could come stay at his place for a little while while he worked on his papers to travel to another country.

So that was what happened and that was how he found himself here.

Well, his friend (my neighbor) began accusing him of stealing his money because according to him, he has been living with his girlfriend since the beginning of the year and never has such huge amount of money gone missing.

He ended up taking his friends phone before locking his friend outside and left for work. His friend sat outside the whole day until in the evening when my neighbor returned and opened the door before calling for a meeting (between himself, his friend and his girlfriend) and then he just suddenly asked them to forget about the whole thing before returning his friend's phone back to him.

Now when I heard this (few days ago), I felt like something wasn't right. There were a lot of questions marks and that was when another neighbor of mine told me that someone had mentioned that the dude's girlfriend had done something similar to that in the past and that maybe, he finally found out that his friend was innocent and didn't know how to apologize to him so he just decided to close the whole issue. Although, all of this is just speculations and none of it has been confirmed yet.

Well, after the whole thing, his friend decided it was time he moved out and I just can't help but feel like this whole event will have a huge negative impact on their friendship. It might be the beginning of the end, if it hasn't ended already.

Friendship can easily be destroyed, though it is hard to build.

I feel sorry for the victim.. his friends clearly didn’t trust him (which is like the most important part in friendship)

I hope they settle their dispute.

Thanks for sharing with us. This is an amazing lesson
