I’ve come to realize that people enjoy it when they’re being feared because they feel fear automatically equals to respect, so they become harsh to you even in situation where they don’t have to.

A good example of people who tend to be harsh when in reality, their profession requires them to be friendly are lecturers. To me, I feel teachers and lecturers are expected to be kind naturally when on their job because you’re trying to impact knowledge into someone and that person being scared of you wouldn’t exactly do much in helping them comprehend what you’re teaching.

I remember one time I had paid for this lecturer’s textbook but had a feeling that his course representative (the person he had put in charge to collect the money for him) hadn’t given him the money. So I went to my friends and asked them what to do. Normally I wouldn’t have gone to them, I would have gone straight to the lecturer’s office and inform him about my payment but you see we were all scared of this man and the thought of going into his office was like walking straight into the deep Red Sea.

But you see, I needed him to know that I’ve paid for that textbook because he had promised to give free ten marks to everyone who paid so I manned up and went to meet him at his office. When I got there, I greeted him and told him why I had come then he gave me one of those “you’re in trouble” looks before asking me to go call his course rep.

Ladies and gentlemen, I went and never came back. About a week later, during our schools sport week, I saw the course rep with a new pair of football boots and I knew for a fact that my money had sponsored those boots. He had stolen from both me and the lecturer and we probably could have gotten the money back from him if the lecturer had been a little more friendly man and I wasn’t so scared of him.

I can't stop laughing 😀😀

Yea many people especially those on a good seat thinks that the only way to get people's Respect is by being harsh and then people will be scared of the person but then,is not the best tactics to use in managing people atall.

You will end up not achieve a good result.

Yup.. Fear may earn you respect for now but what happens when they stop being scared of you? That’s one question this people forget to ask themselves.
