Everyone deserves a Cheat Day
We always try to be tough and act matured all the time that we forget that it's okay to let our guard down sometimes and just allow ourselves have fun. Kinda like giving ourselves a cheat day, a day where we get to act like kids and just be happy.
I remember back in the day about fifteen years ago, during Christmas eve like today, myself along with my friends would take the money we've been saving for months to go buy a lot of fireworks, then we wait till it's dark, that's when the war starts. I call it a war because we would always take our fireworks over to the neighbouring street and just torment them with it and they too would do the same.
We would spend the whole night throwing the fireworks at each other while also running for our lives. It was a dangerous game because people always ended up getting hurt, reasons why we always called it a war. The guys who run out of fireworks first are automatically declared the losers, that is why we all always make sure to come prepared, some kids even end up stealing their parents money just so that they could compete and win.
Although it was a dangerous game, it was a very interesting one, that we always looked forward to every year. Sadly, we all grew up and the fireworks war soon faded away amongst my peers, the new generation we had left it for didn't exactly carry out the tradition properly and it didn't take long for it to dissappear.
Fast forward to many years later and I'm completely in a different state in the country but no matter how far I travel, the spirit of the fireworks war will always find me and trust me when I said it did. Suddenly everyone had left the comfort of their room and had come outside and in the spirit of Christmas, someone had gone to get some fireworks and someone else had gone to get some more and someone else.
And before we knew what was happening, we found ourselves at war with the next hostel and although we had lost that war (because it turned out they had a bigger wallet than we did and also majority of the people at my hostel already traveled), we not only had a good time, I also got to revisit past memories of my time in Lagos and the many funs I had as a kid.
The whole thing just made me realize that sometimes, there's nothing wrong in channeling the kid in you and having fun.
The new generation didn't exactly know how to celebrate our traditional events. Fireworks can sometimes be a serious burning matter. We should enjoy it but we should care during fireworks especially in the street. Happy Christmas, I hope you can still enjoy this dangerous street game.

You guys had to go back to when you were little. Most of people who throw fireworks now are adults. It’s just a way of making ourselves happy
Maybe you're right.. Although over here, it's mostly done by kids.
Having fun is ok but taking unnecessary risk is not advisable because one miscalculation or accident can change the table around. One of my friends paid a heavy price also for playing fireworks game. Accident happen one time but sometimes the loss can be permanent also. In my opinion our safety is more important than taking the unnecessary risk. I think you also know it and you understand what is better.
I totally agree with you brother but sometimes this things happen and we just ignore the risk involved.
It is true that all of us should not forget when we are happy that we should not do anything that will cause trouble to people, especially those people from such fumes. But the problem is that those who are heart patients have to face many problems in breathing.
Yeah true.. Unfortunately we don't always look at things that way.
