Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner

I've never really agreed with that "everyday for the thief.." quote because if you really do look at it, the thief seems to be the one benefiting from it all, although I do know that when that one day that belongs to the owner finally comes, it will be the last time the thief gets to benefit anything ever again.

You may be wondering why I'm talking about this quote, well it's because it seems like that day for the owner has finally arrived at my hostel.

You see I've written a couple of times about my hostel president and how greedy he is with everything (even with things that isn't his). Well today, the occupants of the hostel decided that they've had enough and they all had come together to host a meeting, a meeting that could potentially end the president's reign or even worse, get him arrested by the authorities.

Let me give you a little back story as to why this might happen.

Every Saturday at my hostel is a day where we all come out to do sanitation. The ladies sweep the hostel, while the guys take the wastebin to a certain location to dispose it.

Well it had started raining heavily very early this morning (it actually rained the whole day today) and due to the heavy downpour, the guys couldn't go out to dispose the wastebin. So they had come up with an alternative plan to gather some money and give it to these guys whose job is to dispose the waste.

These guys don't mind the rain, so it just seemed like the logical thing to do. So everyone (some of the guys) started contributing and by the time they were done, it turned out the money left to complete the payment was just 300 naira which is about 19 cents.

So everyone had automatically turned to the hostel president to complete the money and this is because he happens to be in charge of the hostel treasury which has about 23 thousand naira in it (roughly 14 dollars). All of this money he had collected from people at the hostel whenever they went against the rules of the hostel like fighting and all that.

Anyways, when they asked him to complete the money so that the guy could go dispose the wastebin, he had refused and that had caused a lot of commotion because everyone knew the money he had with him and they also knew that the money belonged to the hostel and not to him personally, so why couldn't he just do the needful?

Mind you, I wasn't at home when all of this was happening but by the time I got back, everyone of them had taken a decision. They had all called for a meeting and in that meeting, they've concluded that if he doesn't provide all of that money by Monday, they will be reporting him to the authorities.

And if there's one thing I do know for sure, that will only make things worse for him. But then again, this is the most greedy person I've ever come across on this planet earth and this dude never ceases to amaze me. He might rather die than bring out that money.

I will just have to wait and see.
