Jason pushed his cart slowly in the supermarket, his eyes moving from one cologne to another. He was looking for a particular brand he always wear, the prayzz perfume. He was still searching for it when he heard a familiar voice call his name. “No it can’t be” Jason said to himself as he raised up his head only to see Ella walking towards him, her arms stretched for a hug.

“Ella!! It’s been ages” Jason said after the hug.

“Yeah I know right, you changed your number?”

“Yeah I did” Jason replied, stylishly looking at her finger and hoping to see a wedding band, there was none. Ella and Jason had met during their university days and though they had hated each other when they first met, they had later became friends and had dated for two years. Jason had promised to marry her the moment he had enough cash to do so but Ella has never really been the patient one. Ella had broken up with him the moment a much richer guy showed up.

Jason remembered how he cried and pleaded with her not to leave him. He loved her but unfortunately his love wasn’t enough. Ella had reminded him that she was twenty-six and wasn’t getting any younger. The other guy had promised to marry her and that was all Ella cared about. That was four years ago.

“How have you been, how’s the husband?” Jason had asked and watched as the expression on her face changed from a smiling emoji to that of a sad one.

“My dear, that’s a long story. How are you?” Ella asked.

“So she didn’t get married after all” Jason thought to himself. “I’m good, everything’s good. I got that job I told you about and now I’m…..”

“Hey baby” Both Jason and Ella turned towards the direction of the voice.

Jason smiled. “Like I was about to say, I’m married. Ella meet Stacey, my wife” Jason quickly introduced his wife to Ella and watched as the expression on Ella’s face went from sadness to shocked sadness. He could tell what was going through her mind as she excused herself and pretended to have forgotten something outside but he cared less.
