Drunken Truth

Some few nights ago, my friend received one of the heaviest blow a man can ever get, a blow to the heart. A couple of us had gotten drunk and decided to play a game which involved asking questions and answering them honestly and seeing how everyone would be answering under the influence of alcohol, it felt like the perfect game to play, because the alcohol would act like a truth serum.

So we started the game and among the people in the room playing this game was a girl my friend really liked. So he had directed his question to her and asked her if she liked him, to which she bluntly said no.

It came as a shock to everyone in the room because usually for this kind of question, you'd expect her to beat around the bush and not just give a direct answer but like I said, alcohol was at play here and she was being brutally honest.

My friend instantly felt bad and heartbroken and his mood changed throughout the entirety of that game. We tried cheering him up but nothing we did worked and that was when I realized how much he really liked this lady.

Which to be honest, I thought was a crazy thing. We honestly just met her a while ago and though he had told us he liked her, we had thought it was the usual likeness and nothing deep. Having feelings like this for someone you barely know can be dangerous because the percentage of getting heartbroken is really high and if you're someone who can't handle heartbreaks, it might lead you to doing something crazy like self-harm.

And this is why I always follow one simple rule, never go all in unless you know for sure that they too are all in. So even if I do see someone I like, I'd make sure to get close to you, get to know you and if I do get the greenlight that indicates that you're as interested in me as I am in you, then we're good but if I don't, then it would be way easier for me to move on with my life and pretend like I never met you.

That has saved me from a lot of unnecessary heartbreaks, unfortunately my friend doesn't know that yet hence his reason for suffering. Dude has been playing some Celine Dion ever since and I do hope he gets over her as soon as possible.
