Dogs, not Cats

I've always been a dog person, never liked cats because they creep me out, even though I had once been chased by a dog, but who hasn't?

For the longest time that I can remember, I and my siblings have always wanted a dog pet but my dad always said no. Which as an African parent, wasn't exactly shocking or surprising to us, hence the reason why we never really asked more than once because we knew it was never happening.

And the crazy thing was that my dad didn't say no to dogs or any other pets because he couldn't afford it, he just didn't like them (I guess), and unfortunately we all have to hate what pops hates because he's the man of the house (he didn't tell us to do that, we all just felt that was the right thing to do).

But I just couldn't hate dogs because I loved the idea of having a loyal pet who would always be there for me whenever I needed him/her to be. So whenever I was scrolling on the Internet and stumbled on a video that had dogs in it, I would always watch with a smile on my face while daydreaming of having my own dog someday because that was the only thing I could do, daydream.

I still don't have a dog and I didn't have any plans to get any (still because of my dad) but my eldest brother had one day confided in me on his plans to get himself a dog when he eventually gets a place for himself and that was when I realize that having a dog wasn't a bad thing like I had thought (when I was little, I always used to think that whatever pops didn't like was bad for all of us), I just need to get one when I'm old enough and have a place of my own.

And luckily for me, I'm getting there. I haven't given it a serious thought as of late (because I have more important things to think of) but when I eventually do get the time and space, I will be getting a dog for myself and hopefully, I won't behave like my neighbour who bought a cute dog and sold it off two months later.

And when I do get a dog, I do hope I come up with a better name than Bingo.
