Desperation

If there's one thing I've come to learn on my own, it's how dangerous being desperate can get. And the crazy thing is that sometimes things ends up working for you, but majority of the time, they don't and you find yourself in a much more bigger mess than when you started.

The other day in school, right after one of my lecturers had just finished lecturing, the conversation about fake pastors and men of God came up and he told us a story of how one of them almost ruined him. According to my lecturer, there had been a time where he lost a lot of money due to some very bad business decisions he had taken and in a bid to get his money back any way possible, his family (his mom and his siblings) had introduced him to this female phophetess.

His family had this belief that what happened to him was more spiritual than physical and although he knew himself that the whole thing failed due to bad planning, he was desperate to get his money back any way possible, so when he got told about this woman of God, he immediately bought into the idea and went to see her at her church.

The first thing he did after getting to the church was to buy an anointing oil which cost about five thousand naira at the time in the church (the oil cost way less than that in the market, but I guess the fact that this one was anointed made it go up in value).

He was asked to do a dry fasting for three days (which basically meant he was to eat nothing for that three days). After he was done with the fasting, he had gone to meet the woman of God so that she could finally tell him what happened to his money, that was where everything went wrong.

The lady started to prophesy, telling him of how she saw him getting married to a light skin woman in the future, meanwhile my lecturer was already married at the time to a dark skin lady, he didn't wear his wedding band to the church and that was why the phophetess had thought he was still single. When she noticed he didn't react to that first prophecy, she immediately changed it, telling him how a light skin lady was the one eating his money.

My lecturer said by the time she was done prophesying, the first thing he did the moment he left the church was to go eat at a restaurant and after that, he had gone home to warn his family never to go to that church or introduced him to any church ever again.

He said his wife laughed all through because she was initially against him going to the church because she knew his problem came as a result of the mistake he made. Luckily for him, he was able to bounce back on his feet.

Now if you ask me, I would say he got lucky. Who knows what would have happened if he had gone to the church with his wedding band on and the prophetess had told him that his wife was the source of his problem. Due to his desperation, he probably would have believed her and probably sent his innocent wife packing for something she knows nothing about. That's how dangerous being desperate can get because it makes us do crazy things and we don't even know it until we're done. That is when we come back to our senses and it feels like a huge piece of clothing that was used to blindfold us has just been taken off our face.

Unfortunately some people see these people as gods and they take their word for it and do everything they ask them to.
