Death Has It's Own Lessons

Sometimes, it takes bad things to happen for us to really understand important life lessons, things that if said to us earlier would mean nothing but just words.

When I lost my mom few years ago, it made me realize how short life can be and how we humans take a lot of silly things and make them feel important because we all think there is time. My mom's death messed me up real good but it also changed me in a good way. Now this might just be me trying to be positive, trying to look at the good side of a bad situation, but her death made me realize that life is simple and that we are the ones who make it real complicated.

It also made me to be free with myself and made me do things I normally wouldn't do. It taught me that there wasn't enough time and if you wanted to do something, now was the best time to do it.

I remember after some few months when the whole thing happened, I had given my friends the speech, the life is short and unpredictable speech and I could see it in their faces that they knew I was saying something important but they just weren't taking it as serious as I wanted them to and I remember I was a bit confused as to why that was.

Why weren't they understanding the importance of what I was telling them and sadly, I never got an answer to that question, not until today.

In the early hours of today, one of the same friends I was preaching to had lost a colleague who was also a close friend of his. According to my friend, he and this other guy had both worked the night shift together some few days ago, only for him to hear this morning that the guy was no more, he had gone to bed and never woke up.

My friend had explained the whole thing to us and then suddenly, he started to give us the speech. He started to tell us the importance of speaking up and asking for help whenever we want help. He literally was begging us not to die in silence because there just might be someone who will be willing to help. He basically was just remixing the whole thing I had said to them some few years back, he just didn't know it.

I could tell that the death of this guy really pierced his heart because sadly, I've learned the hard way that only death would make you understand some certain things, and that was when I got the answer to my question, that was when I understood why these guys weren't taking me seriously back then, it was because they weren't experiencing the loss that I was experiencing.

But I really don't blame them, especially now that I know that for them to really understand what I said to them, they would have to experience what I experienced, which I really don't pray for anyone to go through.

So yeah, maybe there are certain things that only the death of a love one would teach you, but I hope that we don't have to understand it through experiencing it, because we don't want anyone to die.

This is well said bro, the occurrence of unfavorable things exposes us to big lessons and reality about life.

Yesterday, the death of a Nigerian artist named Mohbad rocked the internet. He was in my town over the weekend and his death came as a shock, no one thought such would happen to him but it did.

Life is really too short than not to make every minute count and this is just about working to make ends meet. We must live the best way we can because tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone.

Sorry about Mom, I pray her gentle soul continues to rest in peace.

Yeah I heard about the whole Mohbad stuff and it's shocking.. We all just have to learn to live life to the fullest.

Death on its own is a different kind of teacher. I am truly sorry for your loss and well, it's always expected to give the speech because what else can one do when one is grieving?

The truth is we don't want anyone to die but it's inevitable. We must all go someday.

When my parents passed away, I saw life differently. Life is short, do the things you want to do, live your life to the fullest, and do things for people only after you've done the things you need to do for yourself. Because at the end of the day, the people you're caring for, truly don't care about you.
Nobody understood my pain and my messages back then, only my friends who had lost someone dear to them could relate to what I was saying. Sometimes, experience is the best teacher.

I agree with everything you've said.. Sadly, experience is indeed the best teacher.. Our prayer is just not to experience these bad things ourselves but to learn from other people.

What to say😒. I can understand in fact everyone knows that life in uncertain and anything can happen anytime but I feel most of us just say it buy mouth not by heart. They only feel when they experience the situation..

And that's sad.. We really shouldn't have to experience certain things to know about them.
