Creating a Bond
I've always felt like there's always a lesson to be learnt in everything we do, most of us just don't see it that way because we look at things at the surface, we never look deep enough to be able to see the lesson that situation is trying to teach to us.
And though I fall under the category of people who don't always see the lesson, I think I've been lucky enough to catch on to some of them. Talking about Hive, when I first joined in 2018, the motivation was just me making as much money as I could. At first I only knew one person and he too had joined a couple of days before I joined, so we both were new here and we both had the same goal, to make money.
Nothing else mattered to us and for a minute, we had thought that was the only reason anyone would want to be here, we were wrong. It took me a while, but eventually I soon realized that I was looking at the whole thing from the wrong angle. Wanting to make money here wasn't a bad idea but it was the way I was going about it.
I remember someone from the Netherlands had made a post I found interesting and I had given her my honest comments on it. I had done that and moved on, but she had read my comments and replied and I had read her reply and replied too. Before we knew what was happening, we both started having really interesting conversations on the comment section regarding that particular blog and I remember the feeling being so nice because for a minute there, it felt like we were friends.
And then later that evening, I had gotten a notification from Ginabot. It turned out that my new lady friend had gone to my blog and upvoted all of my pending posts. She didn't have a lot of high power but she had a decent amount and I remember that whole experience changing the way I looked at Things.
It made me understand that focusing only on the money might get you a little bit of it, but trying to know people, trying to relate with them on their blogs and if possible becoming their friends will not only make you both close, will not only make them curate your post whenever they see it, it will also make them call you when they see certain business opportunities that they feel you can handle, be it here on Hive or not.
Hive thought me about the power that comes with creating a relationship and why it is very important. It made me understand that to be successful, you don't always have to do it alone or to do it by just minding your business. Sometimes, you have to mingle, engage and make friends because you can't be everywhere and sometimes, your friends are the ones who will see and tell you about certain opportunities that would later change your life.
I know this because it has happened to me and it has happened to my friends too. So I guess this is me saying thank you to Hive for teaching me this.
I think almost everyone came to the platform at the beginning having the same target like you but letter we can understand that only earning is not the thing here. It's more then earning. It's about engagement and making friends as well as creating bonds which is important.
Yup and I feel like a lot of onboarders need to make people understand this before they get onboarded.. That way, it will help them during their first few weeks here where they get little to no traffics on their blogs.
