Corruption in The Educational Sector

I'm sure that corruption in the educational sector isn't something new to most of us. I have actually written a couple of posts talking about the corruption in my own school, so it's nothing new. Now when it comes to corruption in schools, there are two main types of these corruptions that is currently topping the chart, bribery and sex for grades.

For guys, the bribery part is very common for us because we have lecturers trying their best to milk money out of us one way or the other, while the ladies are mostly the ones who fall under the sex-for-grade part and this is because it is mostly male lecturers who ask for sex. Maybe the female lecturers do too but the stories I've always heard even before I got into school were from the male lecturers to the female students.

And it is important to note that up until today, I've only heard stories (or seen in movies) of male lecturers trying to sleep with female students for grades, but like I said, up until today. A lady friend had texted me this evening, asking if I was at home. She had initially gone to visit another friend of mine and asked if I could meet her there because she had something she wanted to talk to me about.

According to her, she had gone to her project supervisors office earlier in the day to submit the first chapter of her project. Now it is compulsory to submit each chapters to your supervisor for them to give you the go ahead to start the next chapter. If the supervisor finds anything wrong with the first chapter, he would ask you to go rewrite it, but if he doesn't, he would give you the go-ahead to start the second chapter.

Now she had gone to his office to submit the first chapter and the man had gotten a little bit curious and asked her why she was writing the project, unlike the rest of her colleagues who had opted to bribe him instead. She had told him that she would love to pay the bribe but she was broke and didn't have the money to pay and that was why she was writing the project instead, so he had told her that he would make it easier for her. He asked her to write down her number before she eventually left his office.

And then the moment she got home, he called her, asking her to come back to his office to collect her file. She had gone back and he started talking about wanting to see her some other time. She said she got confused (probably pretending like she didn't know what he was talking about and wanted him to say it plainly) and asked him what he meant by wanting to see her, but he was smart. He told her he would speak to her tomorrow when she comes to collect her file, the same file he had asked her to come collect but refused to give to her.

And now she's scared. We all know what he wants and she wants my my help. She asked me what I think she should do and to be honest, the best thing would be to report to the school authorities when he eventually makes his move but it won't be the smart thing because even if the lecturer gets fired, she might never graduate from that school and that is because he has friends.

His friends will keep on failing her until her kids gets into higher education with her and that is why I'm here. She needs help and I really want to help her but I don't know what to say. What can someone do in a time like this?

Hmmmm, this is really a tough situation for my fellow gender. All these rubbish still happening in universities. It's high time the government look into this matter and save the life of many ladies from this molestation. This is rubbish, that lecturer is being paid salary for his job...why trying to take advantage of the lady. Well, I think she should go to the lecturer's office with a fellow lady... perhaps this idea can work . This is what I can think for now

Going to his office with someone else will only be a temporary solution because he can easily ask her to come alone next time.. What does she do then?

Well if I were in her shoes, I will get a huge and intimidating man to follow me to the lectures office and most likely in force uniform to give me an affirmation that I am engaged with a serious and mean individual

It is really dangerous for her to visit the mans office alone. And this case can go worst if wisdom is not applied.

How about forming a friendly relationship with another female lecturer who she can relate this with and ask for advice and help?.

I don't think she knows any huge intimidating man to follow her but your idea about forming a close relationship with a female lecturer is a good one, I just don't think she would be able to pull it off. She has always tried to not be noticed by anyone because she just wanted to go through school in peace.. So making friends with lecturers now might be hard, but I will suggest it to her.

Thanks for that.

Oh my God, this is a sticky situation. And it's sad that it's very common. Well I really don't know what she could do at this point because the lecturer has the upper hand here and I've never experienced it.

But I will tell you how a student of my school handled this same situation. The girl set the lecturer up. She lured the lecturer to her lodge without him knowing that there were people waiting outside to video the whole thing, people that aren't students.

When the lecturer came in, she told him to go into the shower to undress, while in the shower, the people with cameras stepped into the room to record him, and they started recording as he got out of the shower almost naked. It caused a whole commotion as the man tried to hide his face but she mentioned him in the video and his faced showed so she got enough evidence.

Then she kept the video as leverage against him and threatened to release it if he tried anything with her. Like that the supervisor worked with her peacefully and she finished her project and graduated. It was after graduation that she finally released the video.

I sincerely hope this helps... My regards to your friend

We actually thought about setting him up and then threatening him with the video, but things like this can be really dangerous. What if the lecturer isn't someone that likes to be threatened and might pretend to play along but then pay some goons to beat her up, if not worse.

So she's scared of doing that. Thanks for the suggestion though.
