Content Creation

All my life I've always felt like I had one calling, which was to be in front of the camera. I didn't know what I was going to do, if it was comedy, acting, poetry or whatever it was, I just knew that I had this passion to want to be in front of the camera doing something professionally, anything.

So I started at home with my very poor android phone which had a very low camera quality. That was all I had, no microphone, no lights to help boost my camera quality, nothing. Just my old phone and my dad's living room.

I began by making short comedy skits and I remember I would post it on my status and sometimes ask my brothers to help me repost it in their status, which they did even though the video quality was next to nothing due to the fact that WhatsApp reduces the quality of any video you post, irrespective of how low of a quality that video has already.

Anyways, I continued that way until I gained admission into the university and all of a sudden everything grinded to a halt. A new environment with new activities made me forget all about my passion but luckily for me, it was only for a while. During my second year in school, I decided to take it a bit more seriously and had gotten myself an iPhone with better camera quality, a wired microphone and a tripod stand.

With these three equipments I had more than half the things I needed, but then I soon was presented with a new problem. I realized that getting the equipments was one thing, getting contents was another. I soon found myself in a place where it felt like my brain was no longer working. I tried thinking of something, anything at all but I always ended up with nothing.

Then tragedy struck, my iPhone got damaged and that immediately brought my passion to a halt once more. And since then, I haven't been able to find the time or gather enough money to get a good phone (preferably an iPhone) with really good camera quality.

But then about a week ago, a close friend of mine had informed me that he had bought a ring light and a wireless microphone because he too has plans of creating content and I remember being so excited because what that meant was that if I ever wanted to go back to creating contents, this was an opportunity for me.

But as usual, laziness and my village people kept me from actually taking the idea serious. I had gone to his place to checkout the ringlight and microphone and that was where the picture above was taken, but ever since then I haven't been to his place. But then something happened last Friday, something that I consider a sign.

I had attended a practical class which someone deviated and the practical lecturer began talking about social media and how people were getting rich off it. Soon he began talking about content creation and endorsement deals and all that, while urging us to try getting into all of these things.

It suddenly felt like the man was speaking to me directly and at that moment, all I could think of was how everything was suddenly working in perfect order for me. I still don't have an iPhone yet but with the ringlight, my current phone camera will have good quality. So yeah hopefully I get to take it seriously this time and then we see what comes out of it.
