Breakfast

In Nigeria, getting served breakfast doesn't exactly mean the usual kind of breakfast we are all used to, sometimes we use breakfast as a slang for heartbreak, so when you hear someone say they've just been served breakfast by their partner, they're most likely telling you that they just got dumped.

I know you guys might be wondering why I choose to talk about heartbreak today, you might even think that I just got my ass dumped, but that really isn't the case. Did someone just get dumped? Yes. Was I the one who got dumped? Nope.

A friend of mine was actually the one who got heartbroken and even though he didn't really go into details why his girlfriend broke up with him, I could tell he was really hurt and heartbroken. Unfortunately, I'm not the kind of guy you want to be sitting next to with a broken heart because I always don't know what to say in these situations, so most times I end up saying nothing and that was what I did, I said nothing.

But while we both sat in silence, I kinda traveled back in time in memory lane to remember the last time I got my heart broken. I believe no one likes getting their heartbroken, but I'm sure no one hates it more than I do because I hate feeling hurt.

But you see, I've come to realize that there are different kinds of heartbreak and I'd prefer you just end the relationship for no reason rather than me finding out you cheated on me, and then me having to end it, it hurts like hell.

My last heartbreak actually happened ages ago. She had called and told me she was seeing someone else and was no longer interested in dating me. Only God knew how I had survived that first night but like every other heartbreak, all it needed was time to heal and it did. But then I made a promise to myself to never let anyone make me go through that kind of pain ever again.

So I always made sure to be one step ahead in every relationship I was in, and by that I meant never fully committing to any relationship. I know it sucked but I was determined to do whatever it was to protect myself and it has always worked for me, even though it's easier said than done.

I do hope I get to heal completely someday and get to love the next person I'm in a relationship with completely without the fear of getting heartbroken.

Heart break can hurt really well. That's why victims always build protective wall round their heart to avoid getting hurt again. Once biten, twice shy.

Lol
I know how crazy a heartbreak could be. Ever since the last time someone my heart, I promised myself not to ever love someone again but that's not possible.
I'm just glad that I am spending my time alone.

It's the first time in my life I've heard something like the way you're telling it. Hearing this has increased my knowledge. Tomorrow, if such words are used anywhere, I will be able to tell that it can mean this. When a person's heart is broken, then he does not feel anything good, he just wants me to leave this world, but it should be done in this way to start new Life.

I'm happy you were able to learn something new and yeah, it's always good to keep yourself busy and rearrange your life rather than dwell on that break up.
