Be Security Cautious

Some few days back, I had written about a friend of mine who got arrested but luckily for him, he had gotten released as a result of mistaken identity.

Ever since that event happened, I just can't seem to take it off my mind because I keep asking myself what would have happened to him if he had followed these guys to the station and got locked up without anyone knowing of his whereabout.

It's cases like this that is the reason of many innocent people rotting away in prison with their family members not even knowing where they are or thinking that they ran away or worse, dead. Thinking about it all brought a flashback of one of my dad many warnings while we were growing up.

Back then, whenever my siblings were leaving home and didn't say where they were going to, my dad would also get angry and yell at them, telling us that everyone must tell someone where they're going to before leaving home and that if a day should come where he asks us about the whereabout of our sibling and we tell him we have no idea, he would deal with that sibling (the one whose whereabout is unknown).

I used to think he was exaggerating the whole thing back then and only wanted to be aware of our every movement because he was being nosey, but now I know better.

In a country like this where it seems like the laws doesn't apply to some people (like law enforcement officers), it is wise to make sure at least one person knows about your movement, just in case something goes south and you don't return home for some reason...then everyone knows where and when to start looking for you.

Sadly not everyone over here takes this kind of thing seriously. I have a neighbor who has a roommate and everytime I ask him about his roommates whereabout, he always gives me the famous "I don't know" reply. So I had tried talking to him about the importance of him knowing his roommate whereabout.

I told him he doesn't always have to know the exact location all the time (maybe due to his roommate wanting some privacy) but could always have a general idea of where his roommate is. That way, if something should go wrong and the cops come asking questions (because they will come and he will be the first one to be questioned), he could have some form of response to give to them because saying "you don't know" to the police automatically places you on top of their suspects list.

So to everyone of you reading this, this is a reminder to always be security cautious and to always take extra measures to make sure that you've placed some form of security for your safety, especially when going out there.
