Army General Murphy

Eighty year old Retired Army general Murphy never fully understood what the saying “the sins of the father visiting the son” truly meant until the day he heard the news of his grandson’s death. During his time in the army, there had been a time when Murphy was in charge of training new recruits and Murphy had been really brutal with his trainings.

A lot of the recruits ran away after they figured out that Murphy was probably after their lives and they weren’t ready to give it to him just yet. To the recruits, Murphy was a wicked commander but to Murphy, he was only trying to make sure his country had nothing but strong and brave men who were willing and ready to go extra miles for their country.

By the time Murphy retired from the army, his method of training was already being adapted everywhere and that was because the people he trained were now the ones in charged of training new ones and they could only train the new recruits the same way themselves were trained because that was the only way they knew how to.

Murphy had been excited when his son informed him about his grandson wanting to join the army. He had tried to get his son into the army in the past but the man had preferred business over military and now that his grandson was interested in doing what his dad didn’t, he was going to give him all the support he needed.

Two months into his grandson being in the military and Murphy got a call from his son that almost stopped his old heart from beating. His grandson was dead.

He had died from the training he got from his superiors. The same training method that his grandfather had invented. Murphy had later discovered that the commander in charge of training his grandson was in fact one of the men he had trained himself. The commander had no idea that the young man was the grandson of a retired army general, not that it mattered but that eliminated any thought of revenge.

“The sins of the father visiting the son or in this case, the grandson” Murphy thought to himself as he watched them lower his grandson to the earth. Murphy knew all he had done had been for his country and now, that has caused him his grandson.
