All For Love

I know that most love stories only exist in the movies, but occasionally, I see and hear people do certain things for love that make me feel like either they've been heavily influenced by the movies they see, or they've been placed under a curse. But that isn't even the scary part; the scary part is the fact that I'm beginning to see things a bit from their perspective.

I don't know if I've told this story here before, but I used to have a friend some few years back who gave up the opportunity to work for one of the most famous companies in the world simply because it was going to take him to a different place for a long time, thereby keeping him away from the love of his life, which happens to be his girlfriend.

At the time, I felt what he did wasn't right, but I didn't say anything about it because I felt like it wasn't my place to. Besides, I only found out about it after he had taken all the decisions and all that. Well, something else happened (or is happening) recently with a neighbor of mine, and of course, love is at the center of it.

So as you guys know, for the past week or thereabouts, I've been trying to get into a one-year program for graduates, and unfortunately I didn't get in, probably because not a lot of candidates from my school were picked. But I have this neighbor of mine who was lucky to get it, but unfortunately for him, due to how rushed the guys in charge of the program were trying to be, they didn't give enough time like they usually would.

And what that did was that it made it impossible for a lot of people to bribe their way into making sure that they get to travel to a preferred state of their choice, because once you get selected for the program, you will randomly be sent to one of the 36 states in the country. But due to corruption, people have found a way to bribe certain people in charge of the posting so that they could be posted to a state of their choice instead of a random state.

Well, he didn't get the chance to do that, and now he has been posted to a state very far away from here, and to him, what that means is that he will be staying nothing less than a year (and probably more) away from the love of his life.

It was sad news for him, but then this evening, I found out that he had decided not to go for the program and would instead wait till next year to register again and this time, hopefully, get the state of his choice.

Now, while most of you might call him stupid for taking such a decision, especially for love, I do find it cute, especially seeing how he still can reapply for the program. But tell me, are you with me on this one, or have I also been watching too many romance movies?

You have definitely not been watching so many romance movies but what if next year comes and still didn't work out the way as planned?

If he can still reapply this year, it wouldn't be bad, but if it doesn't affect him in any way financially regardless, then it's better
