Africa and Africans
I think we all can agree that living in Africa can be tough, especially if you're from a poor background. Life tends to be ten times harder on you than it is on the average person. But then I think one perk that comes with being born in a place like this where everything is shit unless you're wealthy, is that your body gets to "mutate" in a certain way where you don't get to experience some certain things (illnesses) the same way the other guys at the other side do.
Take an example with covid, when covid first broke out, Bill Gate had predicted that millions of Africans would die from the deadly virus because we don't have the hospitals and equipments to tackle such a strong virus and I agreed with him because that is true. Our president travels to the UK almost monthly for the littlest of checkups, that's to show you how less of a faith people have on the medical system here.
But then something strange had happened, covid came but instead of performing like it did at Italy and other places, it began to underperform. I remember people who had covid and were taken to medical centers snitched that the only drugs they were been given there were malaria drugs. And then rumors started to spread that the reason covid wasn't living up to its expectations over here was because of the harsh weather.
So you see, even covid got humbled the moment it stepped it foot into Africa.
Now the reason why I'm saying all of this is because of two things. The first one is about my friend who had malaria sometime last week but refused to get drugs because according to him, the malaria was going to leave the same way it came. This was someone getting some serious night fever but then surprisingly, he did get back on his feet without any form of treatment.
Now I know the body always tries to heal itself, but getting well from malaria without taking any form of drugs, not even aspirin, is that an African thing or does that happen to everybody?
The second reason while I'm making today's blog is because I want to confirm something my mom (and a lot of African women) used to say. Now according to them, if all of a sudden, you start having running stomach, without eating anything that upset your belly or anything like that, that it's a good thing.
And by "good thing" they mean that the reason that is happening is because your stomach is dirty and that is your system way of naturally flushing out all those dirt. Now that explanation has always made sense to me so I never really took drugs whenever I had running stomach unless it was becoming too much or I had to go out that day, but now that I think of the whole thing, it just feels like that isn't true.
It feels like a myth or something, but what do you guys think about that? Please leave your comments below.

Medicine or should I say drugs came from these herbs we have in Africa. We might not have the things to process them but our old folks find a way to heal us with them. So to me, I will say they have a case and will stand by them. Science started along time ago. and these old folks helped us when we had no way to explain their medicines. Maybe if we look deeper into it with a sense of thinking, we will find the trough in it.
So you're saying you believe the whole diarrhea myth.. Okay, cool.
Yh.
