A Good Reason

One thing I've realized that people who do things they aren't supposed to do, things that generally are considered to be bad, tend to give themselves reasons why they do that stuff just so that they don't feel bad about it. It's like they have arguments with themselves because deep down in their heart they know what they're doing is wrong, so they try to look for any reason at all to convince themselves why they have to do that thing, and most times they don't even care how dumb that reason is, all they know is that if it sounds good enough, then they're okay with it.

The other day, I had asked a guy I know why he was into fraud, and he had told me that his forefathers had suffered in the hands of the foreigners through slave trade, and it was his turn to punish them back. Now firstly, he personally didn't survive because none of his family members were used as slaves, if they were, he wouldn't be with me in the same country, he would be a citizen of whatever country his forefathers were transported to.

But like I said, just because deep in his heart, he knows that fraud isn't a good thing, so he went in search of a reason to go into it, a good one at that. Because if you really think about what people went through during the years of the slave trade, you just might lose all sympathy for those people getting scammed.

But just because all of those things happened many years ago doesn't actually give him the right to become a fraudster, but I guess at the end of the day, the only thing that helps people like this sleep well at night, knowing fully well that they just scammed someone off their life savings is that all of what they're doing is nothing but payback for what their ancestors went through.

It just goes to show you that if you have the right reasons, you can do almost anything, both good and bad. It all just depends on the kind of person you are.
