A Day in the Life
This is a day in the life of an innocent man who was expecting to get arrested for a crime I did not commit.
I went to bed the previous night with the expectation of the police bursting through my door the next morning, threatening to shoot if I didn't comply and followed them to the station. Luckily for me, that didn't happen, although I had already made plans for that by communicating with friends and family about the situation just in case it did happen.
Myself and a few of the hostel executives (plus the thief) were the only ones who knew about the missing money. We had decided not to tell anyone else at the hostel in order not to spread panic or even give the thief a clue of anything, if it happened that indeed someone did steal the money, and they were an occupant of the hostel.
I stayed at home until around 2pm, when I had to go cut my hair. I didn't want to leave home and make it seem like I was on the run when they do arrive, in order not to take my self from person of interest to prime suspect number one. But after I waited, and it didn't seem like anything was going to happen, I went to go have my hair cut.
When I got to the barbershop, it turned out there were some people there before me, so I had to sit and wait for my turn. About thirty minutes after I had sat down, I looked outside the shop and saw a van filled with at least six armed police officers make a sharp turn into a corner that also leads to my street.
When I saw this, a lot of things began to go through my mind. It could either be that the dude made true of his words and had called the police, or they just were driving by, because that street also leads to the main road.
After I was done cutting my hair (this was like an hour later), I had returned home, expecting to find the place either empty or filled with the police, but it was neither of that. Turned out they only drove by, and the dude didn't call them.
Now I'm not saying we're out of the woods yet, because he still could go to them at any time, not that I care much. I'm just saying that it's not too late for something to happen.
