A Baby Bouncing Boy

Sometimes, you never realize how useless your day has been until you really sit down to think about it. Today's contest in the Hive Learners community asks us to write about something that we've done in the last 24 hours and unfortunately for me, I really haven't done much and I think I have a reason for that.

The last time I talked about my weekends and how they're spent, I had mentioned that Mondays are part of the weekend for me because I literally have to do nothing all day due to the sit-at-home order in the state where I reside. And even though my school doesn't necessarily obey the sit-at-home order when it concerns lectures, my department does.

Because I'm in my final year and have less courses to study for compared to my other years in school, we've been able to fit in all the courses between Tuesdays and Fridays, making Monday a day to relax and that was what I was doing all day today, relaxing.

If this contest had come up yesterday which was Sunday, I would have had loads of things to write about because I did a lot of things, my favorite one being me going for a walk in the evening with my friend. We had both walked slowly because we weren't in a hurry to go back home and we had watched the people playing basketball, the ones playing football and even the ones about to fight because they were playing football. It was a fun walk, one I definitely will be doing again this coming Sunday.

Anyways, as for my Monday, I did do one important thing. A close lady friend of mine had informed me of her pregnancy earlier this year and she had also told me about her due date, but this was months ago and seeing how we don't really speak that often on the phone because of my bad habit of not being able to communicate with people far away from me, I had forgotten all about the due date.

So when she sent me a text this morning, telling me that she has given birth to a baby bouncing boy, I had jumped out of bed.

That morning, I had picked up my phone to see if I had any important messages as usual before going back to bed when her message came in. I immediately texted her back but then I felt that texting wasn't enough so I had called her immediately to congratulate her.

We had spoken on the phone for a while with me teasing her throughout the whole conversation before finally ending the call. I was more than happy to hear that the delivery went successfully and that both mother and child were healthy. Unfortunately she doesn't live closeby but stays in a completely different state so going to see her is kinda out of the question for now but I will, soon.

Anyways, this wonderful news was more than enough to make my day and it did.

Your day wasn't as useless as you said. Sometimes, having a day without any commitments is a good thing; I, for one, would love that. And of course, good news, like the birth of a child, is something wonderful; it makes a day blessed!

New born baby such a great news 😀 congratulations to your friend. It’s not important to do something everyday some days it is necessary to take rest and enjoy it! Like sometimes I also take break from everything because doing something continuously is tiring. But your Sunday was a funday hehe.

Yeah that's true.. I don't always have to do something everyday.. I mostly use Mondays to rest before diving into the crazy week on Tuesdays 😅.

The news of the birth of your friend's child is heartwarming, and your immediate call to congratulate her shows your thoughtfulness and care. Even when separated by distance, moments like these bridge the gap and strengthen relationships.
