The European Parliament and Brussels are very ill...

Billions in bribes

30000 people work in and around Brussels as deputees, delegates, and members of the European Parliament or the European Commission. But together with those, 35000 people work in and around Brussels as lobbyists to influence those same members.
So that means that more people are there to influence them, than there are to actually be influenced. You get the idea.

Last week one small pimple popped, as Eva Kaili and Antonio Panzeri, vice president and a former member of the European Parliament got arrested for accepting bribes from the Qatari government. 1.5 million EUR in cash was found in their offices alone, together with Patek Philippe watches, and designer bags.

Today the husband of Eva Kiali already pleated guilty for accepting the bribes of Qatar. Other members of the parliament testified that the Qatari lobbyists tried to bribe them for votes in favour with Rolex, Patek Philippe and other watches.
Eva Kaili and Panzeri stay incarcerated and are indicted by the Brussels DOJ.

This is only a small pimple popping, but the actual number of bribes runs into billions, that is for sure. The big question is, will they ever get caught?

Morocco too

Now, also Morocco gets into the eyesight of the Brussels DOJ. Apparently they have been trying to influence the votes in favour of Morocco with bribes of all kinds. Pleasure trips to Dubai for EU Parliament members, trips to Agadir and Casablanca, etc... You get the idea.
Fact is, that the entire European "square" in Brussels is as rotten as black tomatoes. And there seems to be nothing to do about it. Luckily, there are at least a few hard working detectives at the Brussels DOJ.

Have a great Friday!

Sincerely,

I also wonder whether there might have been bribes for giving the host of WC 2022 to Qatar.

Of course it is proven that FIFA members were bribed.

I'm not surprised. When EU started accepting countries like Croatia (where I live) as full-fledged members, those kinds of things were bound to become rule rather than exception.
