Supersonic travel is coming back, Boom!
Boom
Anyone ever heard of the aircraft company called Boom? I hadn't either, but today they had a major breakthrough. The company managed to pull of a flight above the Mojave desert at 1.112 Mach speed with their prototype the Boom XB-1.
The company, which now has a massive factory in the state of South-Carolina hopes to be operational by 2030, and would be able to fly with 70 to 80 passengers per plane in their Boom Ouverture at the speed of Mach 1.7. This would enable them to go from London to New York in 3.5 hours. Which hasn't been possible since the disappearance of the Concorde.
Huge plans
Boom wants to fly over 600 routes worldwide and want to enbable people to fly from anywhere to anywhere in 4 hours for a 100 USD. This seems impossible, but apparently their concepts are very low in cost and very energy friendly. Even the fuel they fly on would be 100 % environmently friendly and much more energy efficient than the current kerosine airplanes use.
They plan to be manufacturing 66 planes per year, and be in the air by 2030.
I am very excited about this, this would be a gamechanger for airtravel!
Sincerely,
