EU Commission warns Belgium for its failing budget!
After the IMF comes the EU
The European commission has officially warned Belgium for the state of its budget. Belgium has a budget deficit of 4.6 % of the GDP. In concrete numbers that is a total of 27.5 billion EUR. With those numbers, Belgium is the second worst of the entire European Union. Just in front of Hungary.
The International Monetary Fund already gave Belgium a warning earlier. Now the EU is there with its warning, but it also has bad news for next year, it expects a deficit of 5 % for 2024. And demands immediate action by the Belgian government to lower the gap. If not it will punish Belgium in June of next year.
Politicians blame each other
The reaction of the politicians in Bflgium is a lame one. They blame the regions for the deficit, but not the federal government. Even though, the federal government is the sum of the regional governments…
It seems like Belgium is slowly gliding into the status of a third world country…
Let’s hope the government sees its responsibility and takes appropriate action!
