Christ want us to do good works, as long as we live, we must do good works and it's our good works that would qualify us to inherit eternal life
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

James 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
It is perfect faith that would save you, Faith with no work is dead
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Faith must be accompany by good work, and good work must be accompany by faith as well
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
