Hola a todos

El tiempo vuela y vamos ya a por sexta entrega de esta serie llamada "Mi Colección de Vinilos". Si habéis seguido los posts anteriores habréis comprobado que a través de estas piezas de colección, todas adquiridas en el siglo pasado, con una moneda que ya ni existe, las pesetas españolas, voy contando pequeños retazos de mi juventud, aunque también hago alguna referencia al disco y al artista o banda que muestro en cada artículo, siempre os dejo el enlace a la Wikipedia para que podáis conocer en profundidad a cada artista. Esta vez es el turno de los legendarios, únicos y superlativos Led Zeppelin.

Después de la pequeña incursión en vinilos de música electrónica que hicimos en el aterior episodio, y los cuales retomaremos en el futuro, volvemos con Rock & Roll y además, probablemente, del más grande de todos los tiempos. Led Zeppelin fue y en el fondo lo sigue siendo, mi banda favorita de todos los tiempos por siempre jamás 😃, y es que no solo tienen un sonido espectacular y un increible dominio de los instrumentos que tocan Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones y John Bonham, sino que además son virtuosos de la música, todo sumado al espectacular carisma, voz y puesta en escena de Robert Plant.

Cuando los escuché por primera vez fue como una revelación, una visión mística más allá del disfrute propio de la música. Recuerdo que uno de mis queridos amigos de la juventud solía venir a buscarme en su destartalado coche, tener coche en aquel momento era una cosa casi sobrenatural y con radio-cassete además, no se podía pedir más. Solíamos ir a dar paseos y a fumar mientras escuchábamos música, casi nunca teníamos un destino, sencillamente poníamos gasolina y dabábamos vueltas por la sierra de Madrid. Parabamos en algún lugar con buenas vistas y sencillamente flipábamos fumando y escuchándo música. Fué el álbum Led Zeppelin IV, el que poníamos una y otra vez sin descanso.

Así pues, en cuanto tuve oportunidad, fuí a comprar todos los discos que pude de Led Zeppelin, ya os enseñaré otras joyas de esta banda tan alucinante. Led Zeppelin III fue mi primera adquisición y como podéis comprobar en las fotografías tiene una carátula espectacular con un hipnótico disco giratorio con "ventanas" redondas en las que vemos aparecer a los componentes de la banda así como otros dibujos e imágenes que puedes estar mirando durante horas, además de poder abrirse y desplegarse como si fuera un álbum doble. En aquella época, sin móviles ni ordenadores con capacidades multimedia, el entretenimiento consistía en sentarte a escuchar la música mientras escudriñabas las carátulas de principio a fin, buscando detalles y datos de la banda. Todo era enigmático y misterioso, hoy todo eso, no solo se ha perdido, sino que ni siquiera se si los más jóvenes entienden por qué lo hacíamos. También hay que añadir que todo este ritual solía ir acompañado de algún psicotrópico, eso también le daba su punto 😜.

Este grupo para mi marcó un antes y después en mi forma de entender la música, el Rock & Roll y la vida en si misma, ya que aunque todo lo que os cuento sucedía a principios de los años 90 este álbum era de 1970, de hecho la banda se formo en 1968, antes de que yo naciera incluso, por lo que me hizo comprender que lo nuevo no es tan nuevo ni lo viejo es tan viejo, de hecho no hemos vuelto a ver nada parecido 50 años después, bueno quizá si parecido pero ni de lejos igual que Led Zeppelin.

Hello everyone

Time flies and we are going for the sixth installment of this series called "My Vinyl Collection". If you have followed the previous posts, you will have verified that through these collector's items, all acquired in the last century, with a currency that no longer exists, the Spanish pesetas, I am counting small pieces of my youth, although I also make some reference to the album and the artist or band that I show in each article, I always leave you the link to Wikipedia so that you can know each artist in depth. This time it is the turn of the legendary, unique and superlative Led Zeppelin.

After the little foray into electronic music vinyl that we did in the previous episode, and which we will return to in the future, we are back to Rock & Roll and also, probably, the greatest of all time. Led Zeppelin was and basically still is, my favorite band of all time forever and ever 😃, and it is that they not only have a spectacular sound and an incredible mastery of the instruments played by Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham , but they are also virtuosos of music, all added to the spectacular charisma, voice and staging of Robert Plant.

When I heard them for the first time it was like a revelation, a mystical vision beyond the enjoyment of the music itself. I remember that one of my dear friends from my youth used to come looking for me in his beat-up car, having a car at that time was an almost supernatural thing and also having a radio-cassette, you couldn't ask for more. We used to go for walks and smoke while listening to music, we almost never had a destination, we simply put gas and went around the mountains of Madrid. We would stop somewhere with good views and just freak out smoking and listening to music. It was the Led Zeppelin IV album, the one we played over and over without a break.

So, as soon as I had the chance, I went to buy all the Led Zeppelin records I could, and I'll show you other gems from this amazing band. Led Zeppelin III was my first acquisition and as you can see in the photographs it has a spectacular cover with a hypnotic rotating disk with round "windows" in which we see the members of the band appear as well as other drawings and images that you may be looking at during hours, in addition to being able to open and unfold as if it were a double album. At that time, without mobile phones or computers with multimedia capabilities, entertainment consisted of sitting down to listen to the music while you scrutinized the covers from beginning to end, looking for details and information about the band. Everything was enigmatic and mysterious, today all of that has not only been lost, but I don't even know if the youngest understand why we did it. We must also add that all this ritual used to be accompanied by some psychotropic, that also gave it its point 😜.

This group for me marked a before and after in my way of understanding music, Rock & Roll and life itself, since although everything I am telling you about happened in the early 90s, this album was from 1970, from fact the band was formed in 1968, before i was even born, so it made me realize that the new is not so new and the old is not so old, in fact we haven't seen anything like it again 50 years later, well maybe yes similar but not nearly the same as Led Zeppelin.
