I think the bad effects of greed supersedes the good not because greed is bad but because humans usually go with doing the negative things more when under the influence of strong emotions.

I share your thoughts too. Humans actually get carried away most times and then end up doing bad things. Greed can be a good driving force to do something productive but then we don't ever get satisfied, we always want more

Yea, I'd say it is simply a driving force and one can chose whether to do good or bad with it, and humans by their very nature end up taking the bad path most of the time.
