If you shine a light on the eyes of cats in the dark, you will encounter something like this. This situation is related to a reflective substance behind the eyes of cats.

Did you call the cat's attention? 🤔 The cat was looking directly at you when you took the picture! 😅

Maybe you were the only (living) thing moving at the vicinity, so the cat's attention was taken by you! 🤔😅

Oh yes probably because of that. But this cat is really cute. I would throw cheese at him from the balcony from time to time.

Isn't cheese expensive? 🤔💸 In the Philippines (where @chrisrice lives), there was one time when ready-made cheese was so expensive that a slice of cheese enough for a 6-inch small sandwich bread already cost $0.25 that time! 😅

The event I'm talking about is two years ago. Cheese wasn't too expensive here two years ago. I could buy it once a month. But now it is very expensive and we hardly get any.

It's pretty cool how that works: many nocturnal animals have this so they can see better in the dark because it reflects light back within the eye, but overall makes their vision less clear. That mirror is called the tapetum lucidum.
