Evening Run

I just finished a 11.737km running that lasted about 0hh:56mm:0ss !

I didn't do any cardio yesterday, as I once again ran out of daylight, so I replaced it with weight lifting. Even with that rest, my legs were still quite sore. As the weight lifting was mostly focused on the back, it's possible that compound exercises may have put some strain on my hamstrings, which felt really tight today. And unlike Monday, I didn't have all that energy. So, I started with a slower but longer run in mind. And for once, it's exactly what I did: I started much slower than usual, and just kept a medium-to-slow pace for over 7 miles.

Because it was late, I once again had to go back to that well-known route, that lets me safely add extra loops, even in complete darkness, so the distance can be pretty much whatever I want it to be. Lots of wildlife today, dozen of deer in particular. I even saw a wild turkey trying to cross a road, but it got scared by a pick-up truck, panicked and came back full speed in my direction, half-running, half-flying. These things are big birds! Luckily, it managed to get cover in the trees before it hit me.

My knee has felt good recently and I kind of forgot about it. That is good, but today, 3 or 4 miles into the run, I felt a very slight pain, and realized I wasn't wearing my brace. It disappeared quickly, so I hope tomorrow I don't regret forgetting the brace.

I checked, today was actually my longest run since January. It was more than 3 minutes slower than January, but it's okay. I'm building back up a solid base, so I can add speed soon hopefully. It's already 99km for March, with one week to go, it's better than I expected.

Changing and possibly rainy weather in the forecast for tomorrow, so we'll see what I end up doing. I need to do more of these weight lifting sessions, and of course eventually I really need to do some stretching.
Till then, keep Exhausting!

That sounds like it was really positive (despite being strafed by a turkey!) When I get into a good cycling routine I find that I can often do a little longer hwen I follow the well known routes as well.

Hopefully the knee doesn't give you any issues!

I agree, well known routes give you a lot more flexibility. If you feel good, you can easily increase the distance.
Knee was good today, fingers crossed for next run.
Have a good week end!
