My Actifit Report Card: August 30 2023
Hey Actifitters, most of the morning yesterday was occupied by a visit to the vet for Kaia. As I explained, she's been limping way too much, and we needed to figure out the problem. As always, she was terrified in the vet office. Not sure why, because unlike Genepi, she never experienced any trauma there.
And the news weren't very good. The most likely reason for the problem is a right cruciate tear. If like me, you didn't know what that meant, it's just a fancy way of saying she blew up her knee. And even though medical management may be possible, surgery appears to be the best option, especially because she's only 7. So that's probably what we'll do. In any case, that means that for the next few days, she can't go on walks at all, and we'll see when the medication kicks in, and when the surgery is scheduled. Of course, to cheer her up, we spent plenty of time in the yard during the afternoon. Even Le Chat wanted to show support!
Not related but Kaia yawns a lot!
Much later in the day, even if it felt very strange going on a walk without Kaia, I decided to go and catch the last minutes of the sunset, as we normally do very often.
Saw some wildlife on my way back home. First this big deer.
Followed by a younger one.
But as nightfall was getting close, I kept the walk somewhat short.
One last new friend though. I don't think I ever saw that neighborhood cat before. So many of them, it's difficult to be sure though.
And that was it. Now I have to figure out a new routine. Walking with Kaia was making up the biggest portion of my daily activities and steps. I need to replace it. I guess it might be good to finally resume my running. We'll see how it goes.

I'm sure it does feel really weird going on a walk without Kaia. I do hope that you'll be able to resume your walks with her after she heals.
