My Actifit Report Card: July 27 2023

Hey Actifitters,

Since we still didn't have power yesterday, I decided to sleep in. Without power and internet, I cannot work anyways, so why not catching up on all that sleep debt! Early afternoon though, before it got too hot, Kaia and I went out to check the neighborhood and our forest. Still many signs of the storm.

But I was surprised when we arrived near the forest, as it looked very normal.

Even Kaia looked surprised.

But when we got deeper into the woods, I noticed the light seemed brighter than usual. And I quickly understood, so many trees down!

At least Kaia knows how to keep it fun with new obstacles.

Many more broken trees in the next trails.

Kaia was so busy checking out all the new scents from these fallen trees and branches, she didn't notice we were under close supervision.

But it was getting hot, as Kaia's tongue shows, so we headed back home.

At home, I found my solar gadgets that I used for backcountry hiking in the past. I guess it's better than nothing to at least recharge my phones a bit.

Then we just waited it out until much later in the afternoon. Around 8pm, I decided we needed another walk. A crew from the Power Company was just arriving to take care of some of the broken branches in the front yard.

We let them do their work and rushed to catch the sunset.

It was a particularly clear one, not sure why.

When the sun started disappearing behind the trees, we of course started on our way back.

By the time we arrived home, they were done with the tree cutting.

I didn't want to let some of the good stuff in the fridge get bad, so I fired up the BBQ. Delicious!

And my solar light worked!

Well, that was a bit of a strange day, but we managed to enjoy it, even without power. Now, a day later, I am glad we have the power back, which is why I could write a longer report.
