My Actifit Report Card: May 3 2023
Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday started again with a visit from the deer in the yard. I stayed inside at first and observed them from the window. But even when I went into the yard, they didn't even flee right away.
When they were close enough from the fence, and getting ready to leave, I unleashed Kaia!
All that under close supervision from Le Chat.
When we started our long walk of the day, it was still very cloudy but at least no rain.
For a moment, I even thought we'd see a sunset.
But only a little color was able to pierce through these thick clouds.
And of course, it was time to go to the forest next.
Kaia likes it better when she's off-leash of course.
Still some flooded area in the forest, but it's receding a bit.
And we could explore more trails without getting too wet.

Yeah, they're here almost every day now. Tonight when I came back home, three were just sleeping in the backyard. I parked the car in the garage, they didn't even move! They finally did when I let Kaia out of the house though !lolz

Oh man, pet deer would be cool! I'm not even sure what Kaia would do if she actually caught one. I remember Genepi was always chasing them as well, and once he surprised one in the forest, they were just inches from each other, staring at each other for maybe 15/20 seconds, both completely still, until finally Genepi responded to my recalls (he was better trained than Kaia). Maybe he realized these deer are big and it's probably best to leave them alone. But if that deer moves, probably all hell breaks loose... Anyways, that didn't stop him from chasing them every time we saw other ones though, instinct was too strong !lolz

Since they stay in your yard while you're there, you could try leaving a few treats out for them, and then when you're in the yard with them, offer the same treat in your hand. It may take a bit, but they may indeed begin to eat from your hand and trust you. That's very cool about Genepi and his encounter with the deer! They were probably both super surprised!
