Thanks To Ted...

'Tonight I'm gonna show you off. Please don't be late, I beg of you'. Ted begged. 'Umm, I'd think about it' Stella said with a smirk. Ted was just a friend I had met recently, he was so sweet, or so I thought. It had been two weeks but it felt like I had known him all my life. 'No, no, no and no. You won't think about it, you're just going to come, please, pretty please'. I would easily turn down a new friend but there was just something about him that kept pulling me, 'fine, I'd be there'. I accepted an invitation to a reunion party at his place.

He had a reunion and he invited me to be his guest. I was skeptical about it but his plea just dissolved skepticism. Good thing the party was on a Saturday because any other day of the week, I was totally hooked. I worked in the press. I gathered new information daily, compiled them and delivered them. On Saturdays, I wasn't totally free but I was a little bit off the grid. One could say I was a very busy lady in her late twenties. 'Then it's a date! Thank you so much Stella, you have no idea how much this means to me, I'd see you tomorrow', he gave me a clumsy hug, smiled, got into his car and zoomed off. I walked to my car too and headed home. I haven't been on many dates but the one I just had was terrible.

Ted didn't even act like a gentleman, he just zoomed off. At least he was supposed to ensure I got into my car first but no, he zoomed off while I stood there waving goodbye to him. He seemed like he was in a hurry and so I let it slide this once since it was our first date. Actually, I let a lot of things slide that night. When I arrived at the restaurant, he didn't pull a seat for me to sit on. I pulled my seat myself. He had already ordered and I didn't really like the food but I just had to eat, these amongst other things made me see Ted as 'a no gentleman'. I got home and just hoped Saturday would be better. The next day was Friday, I got to the office and I was welcomed by a bouquet of flowers, Ted sent them. Towards the afternoon, I got a text message from him reminding me of the date, I replied to the text and assured him that I didn't forget about the date.

He sent a smiling emoji. I rounded off things at the office early in anticipation for Saturday and went shopping with my apartment mate, Stephanie. She listened in awe when I told her why I was shopping because I definitely was not the shopping type, that's why I needed her help. Stephanie took me to a shopping mall and I got everything I needed for the date. My dress was so beautiful, I couldn't wait for Ted to compliment it. Saturday came and I worked from home, one hour to the time of the date, I started getting ready. I heard a honk outside, that must be Ted, good thing I was ready before he came because if I wasn't, he would have waited another hour. I opened the door, closed it behind me and locked it. I walked to his car and I opened the door for myself!

Couldn't he be a gentleman for once. I entered and sat down and we zoomed off to the venue for the reunion. He didn't compliment my dress! I spent a lot of money to look good for him and we barely spoke on our way to the reunion. We arrived and he introduced me to his friends and left. He was nowhere to be found. I tried calling but he didn't answer my calls. I decided to take a walk around. I wandered and found myself in a room. I had a passion for discovering new things and so I scanned through some books and papers. As I was scanning through, something caught my attention. A case I was handling. This case was a very important one and any mistake could mess everything up. Could it be that Ted was trying to get to the documents of the case which was in my possession? I wouldn't doubt it because he was acting so strangely and rushing things.

I was supposed to turn in the documentary for the case tonight but there I was, in his house and I was sure he was at mine, scavenging. I ordered an uber to take me home. I called the police and reported the situation because I was going to face Ted and he seemed dangerous all of a sudden. I got home and Ted was very close to finding the documentary when stormed in. I acted all ignorant as if I didn't know what was going on.' Ted? What are you doing in my house? ' he was surprised to see me and also confused. I noticed there was a gun at his back and so I acted very cool. ' oh! Stella, I thought I dropped you off at my place. I umm.. Umm… came to get some fresh clothes for you to change into since I figured you may be spending the night over at my place' this moron really thought I was daft, he messed with the wrong person, I smiled and said' oh, that's so thoughtful of you dear, that's exactly why I came here too.

Let me grab the clothes and I'd be right back'. He nodded in agreement. I went to my room, got my pistol and went back out. He had already gotten hold of the papers and was about to leave. I pointed my pistol at him' leaving without me Ted?

Drop the documentary, now! I said drop…' before I could complete my sentence he shot me in the leg winced in pain as I dropped to the ground. I had managed to stall him a bit because the police caught up with him and he was arrested. At the station, he was tortured till he confessed. He said that he was offered a large amount of money just to steal the 'stupid document' as he called it. He didn't even know what it was. He didn't even know who sent him because the proposal to steal the document came as a mail and if he didn't get it before it was sealed, he wouldn't be paid and he would also lose his family. The mail was shown to the police, they tried tracking it but it was highly encrypted and so, they kept Ted in custody and went to protect his family as undercover cops. As planned, the mysterious man came to kill Ted's family and he was caught. He had so many charges on his head. Attempted murder of three, threatening a citizen, attempt to violate legal information and a lot of others. He was sentenced to sixty-five freaky years in prison and that was it. I got back to my work and this time, I became even more skeptical and alert thanks to Ted

Oh! It is really a point to be thankful of Ted. His strange behavior made you be uncomfortable and then you finally figured out the background story.

I am happy for the ted family too. After all, they were innocent

Nice line of story. Keep it up
