Hive rally car WRC CER event RECAP // Positives, failures, fixes for the future.

Now that the event is over and we delivered all the content we intend to deliver I want to delve into some positives, some issues we faced and where we failed to deliver with a focus on how to fix the problems for the maximum possible reach in the future when it comes to next season of rallying.
Ill try to keep this as short as possible.

POSITIVE:

  • First comprehensive coverage of the event with multiple videos, photos shared on social media with a total reach between 250k-300k impressions and views.
  • Reach outside Hive echochambers and high placement on social media sites, topic related tags and google searches. Visibility visibly exceeds Hive related engagement.
  • Significant HBD cost reduction of between 40-50% since my takeover of project management for promotional activity compared to previous itterations.
  • Zealy utilized to great effect.
  • Massive community contribution to the event.
  • High quality content delivery on most days.

NEGATIVE:

  • Lack of familiarity with the event dynamics and failure to deliver proper content on day Third out of Six.
  • Minor lack in equipment preparation due to lack of experience and understanding of the demands of the event.
  • 25% lower content quantity delivery than planned for.
  • File organization failure due to inexperience and software incompatibility .
  • Major time management issues due to lack of experience with WRC rally stage dynamics.
  • Lack of direct use of Ads on Twitter and Youtube due to budget restriction and last second unexpected change in specific individuals accompanying me.
  • WRC+ failure to add our driver to the email delivery list on time for daily WRC footage delivery.
  • Personal car use leading to unfavorable situations on the road and affecting location reach.
  • Zealy engagement quality creates appearance of botting.
  • Lower than possible visibility for Hive car due to the car being rally5 category.

FIXES:

  • Availability of editor with equipment adjusted to software requirement on location. Allows for instant daily uploads, increased daily content quantity by 100%. Cost increase in low hundreds of HBD.
  • Zealy-Social media ad revenue adjustment.
  • Zealy engagement instructions adjustment towards organic discussion to affect twitter and social media algorithms positively.
  • File organization adjustment towards „Daily“ instead of „Content type“ delivery. This will allow for AFTERMOVIE + VLOG to be released during peak relevance instead of days, weeks later.
  • Attendance of Rally stages fixed to one location instead of driving 300km a day with low chance of capturing proper content.
  • Rental car option over personal car use due to 3000km distance covered and car being inadequate for demanding terrain.
  • Slight equipment improvement. ND filters and zoom needed. Less than 200 HBD cost.
  • Content quantity delivery increase by 100-200% daily due to on location editor availability.
  • Car replacement and purchase of Rally2 or Rally3 car would increase Hive visiblity during event by between 10-20x.

I just want to note that me and @bil.prag have covered this event for free and no funds have been spent on us for the work and content delivered. Expenditure went towards the junior editor, transportation, parking, highway vignettes, food and lodging.

This post is a recap of the WRC CER that presents possible adjustments to be made in the future. This post shouldn't be seen as a recommendation for any additional expenditure and should be only seen as a reflection of the realities of this single Hive sponsored event.

Yeah, we learned a lot. Im extremely happy with the outcome but I can see exactly what we could have done differently and much better.
Im writing it all down so we are ready for January and Monte Carlo. Should be a different story.

my last post is still in the making. life and trying to best optimize it for SEO were to blame :) my idea with those posts was to try to get overall post as high as possible on WRC and Central European Rally search (mostly in the Image search as it is almost impossible to be higher than official WRC pages), but also in the drivers name search.

This event was very special and I have been watching videos of it and showing it to my friends. One day we all will decorate our cars in the same way and drive around our city.

Hive Rally Car is really good marketing and has a higher retention rate on promoting Hive. I met someone at the World Token Summit in Dubai named Vali, and he was telling me that he quite remembered that Hive had participated in a World Rally Car racing.
