Splinterlands Art Contest Week 296 is here! Do you already have an entry? I've been working on my drawing for the past few days and just finished it now.

My Entry

I put in extra effort this week, not just for upvotes but also to improve my drawing skills.

The character I chose to draw this week is Lux Vega. Lux Vega is a Legendary Neutral Summoner who can summon any element.

She provides buffs to the friendly units she summons, such as +Shield, +1 Health, and +1 Speed.

Lux Vega is expensive to rent due to her high value, and I often see her used by top players in Splinterlands.

Artwork Steps

After completing the rough outline, I drew the final outline for my character, adjusting any parts that seemed wrong.

Coloring

I started coloring my art using a watercolor brush, ensuring no gaps in the color because I would remove the outline in the end. If the edges were crooked, the artwork wouldn’t look good.

I duplicated the folder containing the colors as a backup in case I made a mistake. In this duplicate folder, I added shading, overlaying different tones of the same color for each layer to create good shading. Sometimes, I used 5-7 tones per color.

Once the shading was complete and looked okay, I added a layer on top for lighting effects, using an airbrush and changing the layer to soft light.

Background

For the background, I started with a gradient of blue shades in the backmost layer. Then I added Streaks

Behind the character, I decided to create multiple overlapping layers that looked like smoke, using a cloud brush.

I also drew a glow around the character using the same brush and style.

Bonus Artwork

I saved the image in three layers, background, character, and glow. I then edited it in CapCut just for fun, adding effects like glow and more.
