Fighting Waste: Food Belongs on the Plate, Not the Trash
According to statistics, up to a third of all food produced is lost or wasted. At a time when millions of people around the world suffer from hunger, this is an alarming number. Each of us can start the change at home:
Planning: Create a shopping list and stick to it. Know what you are cooking.
Creativity in the Kitchen: Learn to use up leftovers. Vegetable peels are great for a thick broth, stale bread for croutons or toast.
Proper Storage: Learn how to properly store fruits and vegetables to make them last longer. For example, herbs in the refrigerator in a glass of water.
Food is a universal language. We can enjoy it and at the same time be part of the solution to global problems. Small changes in our shopping habits and in the kitchen can have a big impact on our personal budget, our health and the future of our planet.
