Ten Smoking Black and White Collages
Greetings, friends, how are you today?
Myself... well, I decided it is time for some experimenting. So earlier today I have created in Photoshop these ten collages based on eight new studio photographs from my running project of smoke and hard light.
I'll start with my favorite collages and if you're interested, you could see the original captures below, under all of the collages.
Do you think collaging those pictures makes it all a bit more artistic? Or not? I have some hesitations, to be honest.
Which is your favorite photo? And which one is your favorite collage? :) Nothing wrong with expressing some criticism as well, you know! :)

You probably know by now how much I love Black & White or sometimes referred as Monochromatic photography. I have always believed that while Color Photography shows the external part of our world, Black and White Photography shows the soul, the inner hidden side of everything. Great work man! However, to me, collages aren't making anything good. Just photos by themself are stunning. Smoke is elegant, photos are razor sharp and I would be happy with just that. Maybe some play with colors and effects, but that is not black and white anymore and that's another taste. Great job!

Hey there! You know I love your black and white photography work.
I'm sometimes hesitant to use collages because I feel they can take away from the photos. I don't like it when some of the photos are cut off and the fullness can’t be seen depending on the type of collage you use. I personally only use them when necessary and only use ones that don’t cut off my photos.
In your case I don’t think it adds any more artistic feel to your beautiful work, the photos alone look amazing. It actually adds a bit of distraction and takes away from your hard work. This is my opinion based on your questions :)

A similar feeling was spinning around in my head but I need to hear it from somebody else too :)
Also, the concept is missing a bit, for me at least. I needed to test it though :D

No problem at all. I know what you mean and I too like to get feedback on things I'm not too sure about. It’s always good trying things out because we’ll never know how things will turn out if we don’t try it.

Oh, this one's tough. I'm very much a traditionalist when it comes to sharing images and, if I were to look at these in a museum or gallery, I'd probably pass them by if they were collaged. That said, I do like how the fifth image in your post looks; it looks more like a frame than a collage.
