How i turned an Hobby into a money making opportunity

Life is not a bed of roses but you could make one, well I made one myself and I still enjoy that to date. Making money legally is not easy and it is even tougher on my side of the world as they are distractions and quick avenues to provide a quick fix for you. Well, I have never for one thought of going into a life that due to my upbringing and that shaped my mind till this day.

So recounting how I made my way onto the Hive blogging platform, I have always been a writer (Maybe not as good as I am at the moment) but have been a source of livelihood before crypto and hive came along. I could remember that during my time in secondary school, I have always loved music and that led me into writing so much music that was never produced or recorded (Besides, I have a terrible singing voice).

I did not pursue a career in music or as a songwriter, I didn't even know that musicians make lots of money then. I just write music for the fun of it and grooving to your own songs provides a different kind of vibe which I must confess to being soul-lifting. It was not until I got into University (College) that I knew that I really had a talent for writing.

With banking and finance being my major in the university, calculation should have been my hobby but I discovered that I was more into writing. like I literally write for everyone and anyone who has a writing issue (LOL). Any assignment that involves the usage of imagination to create a world that doesn't exit used to my field and my most love area of writing.

It was not until when I was in 300 level that I discovered that I could actually do more than just creative writing, I could actually do research writing and it was from that point that I actually grasp that my writing hobby could actually be grown into something worthwhile.

A friend of mine who was in 400 level as of then was to write a project (research paper) on a particular management topic and he had no idea how to go about it. He approached me and explained his ordeal and I requested that he should give me time to make research and check if I could help him with some things. He thanked and I delivered chapter 1 and chapter 2 of his project to him 2 weeks after.

He submitted to his project supervisor and to my surprise, the errors were little and he was very impressed with what I did that he gave me a sum of 5,000 nairas. I was happy and he introduced me to some of his friends who were in need of such service too and that was how my writing business came started.

That led me into turning this into a side hustle while still in school. This newfound opportunity birth "Abbey consult" with the logo posted above. The services writing services rendered are highlighted in the image below also.

So this below was what I started without before going on to write on sites such as freelancer.com, Upwork, and Fiverr. But my formative period and learning period was through Abbey consult and I must confess that this built me up to the level I am as of today and it was a great learning curve. So basically, this was how I turned a hobby into a business and money-making opportunity.
