I read a blog about some south African brothers named Ameer and Raees Cajee who founded Africrypt. A crypto currency investment platforms and they disappeared with $3.6 billion worth of bitcoin from their clients. This is considered one of the biggest cryptocurrency heist in SouthAfrican history. The quantity of bitcoin stolen was 69,000 bitcoins.

The authorities said they can’t launch an investigation because Bitcoin is not yet a legal financial product. Reading the blog about this reminded me of how I lost $10,000 last year to forex investment companies.

Firstly, Africa is the worst place to make any financial investment because its laws are just to the common citizens. Before investing, I signed a documented legal agreement. I was assured of the safety of my investments and I was still duped. I just found out that it’s the trending way of scheming off naive Africans that are looking for a way to have a better life through investment.

Investments are one of the best decisions to make in your life, but Africa made it seem like it’s a bad choice. So I learnt the hard way. The lessons have learnt from investments are what I will be sharing.

The best and most profitable investments you can ever make in this life is to invest in yourself and knowledge. If you try to invest in yourself and knowledge first, you don’t need to give any person your money to control. The moment you give someone your money to control, the chances of getting your money back is 70-30% probability. Do you have a large amount of money but don’t know what to do with it? Take out time and do a research, try to understand where you want to invest your money in, learn it and control your money yourself. If you want a job done well, do it yourself.

Any investment that gives you enormous profit without a use case or utility is not investment rather its speculation. The moment you start seeing huge amount of profit and you don’t know how the profits are being generated then be ready to see yourself wonder how your money disappeared. I wish I discovered @leofinance, hive or @proofofbrain earlier on I wouldn’t be writing this article now. But in life we become great from our mistakes and lessons learnt from them.

Well I have moved on, trying to get my life back on track grateful to God for everything. Whenever I hear any investments, with my experience from being scammed, I can tell when it’s a scam.

I think it passes as the biggest heist in crypto right next to the Mt.gox heist. A hard lesson to learn here for the investors.

The truth is that some people see cryptocurrencies as a get rich quick scheme so because of that they fall into the trap of ponzi schemes that defrauds them of their investment...
