I invite you to the St. Dorota from Matowy associated with Gdansk.
I recommend J. Wisniewski's text in "Studia Elblaskie". The interview with the author of the painting showing Dorota was also interesting, he said that the middle ages were not as backward as we think and he wondered if we are not backward today...

Today's "glass and eye" times are blunting the spiritual world as an old-fashioned relic. The question is, are we living in a better world? It is better because we do not experience wars and plague, but are we happier than the citizens of Gdańsk from the times of the Teutonic Knights? We often underestimate the roof over our heads, food, health, and if we suffer misfortune, we can curse the Creator. Dorota accepted the difficult fate differently. She was always cheerful and trusting in God's protection. She humbly accepted the departure of eight children, trusting that they were better off in the Father's House.

After the death of her husband, whom I wrote about in the previous post, Dorota went to Kwidzyn, where the scholar priest Jan from Kwidzyn, who was a professor in Prague from 1387, lived. It was he who showed understanding for her spiritual needs to be as close to God as possible. It was he who helped her obtain permission to brick her in a cell and he wrote down her biography. Dorota wanted to die to the world at the age of 46, entered her cell built in the Kwidzyn Cathedral with a smile on her face, her dream came true. Lots of people came to the window of her cell asking for intercession and prayer. Apparently, she knew the sins of people, mentioned them carefully to the surprise of the faithful. It is said that many miracles happened thanks to her prayers. During her stay in the cell, Dorota felt close to God, she had visions written by Jan from Kwidzyn. She predicted min. the exact date of the death of the Teutonic master Konrad Wallenrod, saying that for his deeds he will hit the claws of Satan. She also predicted the date of her death, she died on June 25, 1394, happy after 14 months of voluntary confinement.

In the photos: the cathedral connected with the castle in Kwidzyn, where Dorota ended her life, and the church cemetery in Matowy Wielkie, which I visited in the summer.
