Where is the Good Way?

Managing a Family is Complicated

A lot goes into managing a family, providing resources, managing disputes, feeding, clothing and cleaning these little people is a full-time job. Thankfully, I'm home to help manage domestic affairs and not placing it entirely on my wife's shoulders.

Every so often, there is a moment of reflection where I get to see what life is like from the perspective of a little one. Completely dependent on larger people to survive, care-free except momentary discomforts.

The World Our Young Ones Will Have To Deal With

I can't help but feel like actions taken today will have long-ranging consequences for the next generation. The better trained and equipped our children are, the better position they will be in to deal with the world of tomorrow.

Admiring and seeking the ANCIENT path, the GOOD way, rather than being seduced by the path of "futurism" and "humanism" and "trans-humanism" whatever abomination that would be. No the old ways are better. They can be less efficient, they can be more uncomfortable and difficult, but the reward that comes out of it is immeasurable.

Where is the Good Way?

The seduction of this world is great. There is an image that has been set up, an image of a FUTURE world, a "do-as-thou-wilt" world, a "you will own nothing and be happy" world. For many, this world is abhorrent, but for young people looking to remove their responsibilities as much as possible are very attracted to this world. It looks beautiful to them.

“Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint us a king to judge us like all the nations.” 1 Samuel 8:5

We have been conditioned to observe the behavior of our children and rather than train them up, seek to gain wisdom from them. When we see our children walking a different path, rather than redirect them, we follow along and make them our superiors! But where did our children learn this behavior?

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Jeremiah 6:16

The children are standing at the crossroads, observing two paths. One appears to "PROGRESS" and "MOVE FORWARD", the other seems "irrelevant" and "outdated". They look at the old morality as obsolete, replaced with a new and better morality that exists for purely practical purposes and creates a more efficient society.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Proverbs 14:12

Every child will be presented with two options, and one option will naturally be more appealing and the other will naturally look old-fashioned. But the reality is that the broad and appealing path leads nowhere good. It will lead to great misery and pain.

There are two ways, one of life and one of death and there is a great difference between these two ways. Didache 1

The Way of Life

There is a way of life and it's found in the truth of God's word. When children develop a TASTE for God's words, they crave it more and more. They develop a TASTE for truth and a desire to seek what is good in the eyes of the Most High.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8

Choosing the ancient path, the way of life, the narrow way - this is the difficult road that leads to life. Yes, it's more difficult, but in the end it's completely worth it. There will be temptations to change paths, to follow the crowd, but it's our responsibility to remain faithful to the one who set us on the right path.

We Cannot Regress to an Infant

As silly as it sounds, there is a natural desire in all people to want to be taken care of. Especially when things become difficult. How nice would it be for a powerful system to take care of us, when circumstances make things nearly impossible. How nice would it be to abandon real life and allow ourselves to be sucked into a "meta-verse" where all your wildest dreams can come true (at a price). Meanwhile all the cares and concerns of real life just slip away, so it would seem. They can put your soul in a camp, that's fine, just "don't take away my metaverse character."

The Real World is Hard and Full of Challenges

As an example to our children, we have to be obsessive with discovering and walking the ancient path, the path of truth, no matter where it leads us. We have to be just as obsessed with truth, as the world is obsessed with the delusion. Then, when our children stand in the crossroads, they will ask where the good way is and they will walk in it and they WILL FIND REST FOR THEIR SOULS. They will seek first the REIGN of God and the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God, and all their cares of this world will be added to them. They will gladly put on the light yoke of Messiah and serve Him faithfully to the end.

This is the WAY OF LIFE that leads to paradise. This is the way our young ones will deal with the world of their wicked generation.
