We Are Alive! October 21st, 2022 Drying Out the Tent

Packing up the tent in the rain and wet grass isn't the most fun, but we have to do what we have to do. The only problem is rolling all that moisture into the canvas tent could lead to mildew stains.

So, we set up the tent again to dry, now that the weather is warmer and dry.

While we were camping, the fuel prices were very high. I paid $4.499/gallon which is the highest gas price I've ever purchased. The tank was pretty empty when we got back, so I filled the tank today, finding $3.659/gallon.

I was able to completely fill my gas tank for under $60 which is pretty good these days. My how times have changed.

I wonder if we'll ever see a price like this again? I sure hope so! With inflation doing what it does, it's unnerving to think of what the future cost of living will be.

For now, I'll enjoy the 3 dollar gasoline.

Wow, that seems like a lot. How many liters are in a typical full tank? My tank holds 15 US gallons.

$117 USD / 15 gallon tank = $7.80 / gallon Make these prices look pretty cheap!

I think I underestimated it as my car holds 70 litres and I usually fill up around 50-60 litres at a time. It costs between €2 and €2,20 a litre. So a full tank is over €140 cheapest.. around 70% of that is a combination of fuel and sales taxes.

My car is diesel, diesel is now more than petrol at the pump.

You might be grateful to have diesel someday, since it's more compatible with "alternative" fuels, which might be the only thing affordable some day. :-)

There is already a huge shortage of affordable cars here, there are some who will spend a fortune on an EV on credit, but they are a disaster after a few years. It reminds me of building a car without an engine, absolute insanity.

We're paying the equivalent of nearly $10 a gallon here in the UK. I know we generally don't have the huge distances you have to travel in America, but it's still crippling.
