We Are Alive! May 23rd, 2023 Was I Dreaming?
It all started on Saturday, while we were relaxing my phone rang. It was a family friend, who asked if we would like to attend a concert about an hour's drive away. He even offered "transportation" to get there. Hmmm, that was a bit odd, since his family is 12 people total and my family is 8 total... we're talking 20 people? Transportation for 20 people?
Come to find out, this family bought a bus. But not just any bus, but an "entertainer" bus, more like an RV. Kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, couches, tv. It was like a house!
But I'm getting ahead of myself. I enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to visit with our family friend and attend this concert. We volunteered to drive ourselves, since we figured things might be a bit cramped with two large families traveling in one vehicle.
The next day (Sunday) one of our children came down with a sore throat. Ut Oh. As the day progressed, more children began complaining of a sore throat. Why???
I was still hopeful that our family could attend, but then the next day (Monday), it was confirmed. Our family was sick. Booo. Then my wife said she did not feel well. Oh boy.
So I thought it over in my mind: either I stay home with my sick family or I go myself as a Turner delegate. I was about 50/50 split. I felt because I committed to going, and I was not sick, I decided to go myself.
So I did "hitch a ride" with the family and boy it was strange going as an individual without my seven other family members!
A Comfortable Ride and Good Fellowship
So I enjoyed an hour and a half drive through traffic in this massive bus/rv. It was a very special experience, four adults and fifteen children. My sister-in-law and her family (seven people) were there in addition to the family of twelve. This bus fit 19 people without much crowding or discomfort.
It was very strange to be there solo without the seven other people in my family to attend to and manage. The best way to describe it is as "light". I felt "light". But also like a large part of me was missing. It was an odd feeling.
Shilo Ben Hod leads a worship team from Israel. They are Messianic believers and their music incorporates both gospel and Torah related Messianic themes. They also attract fantastic believers from all over the state. I saw lots of familiar faces there.
The service itself was fantastic. Very simple, just singing with the lyrics on three very large screens. They sang in English and repeated in Hebrew and it was really amazing hearing the songs both ways. My limited Hebrew understanding illustrated a few creative changes in lyrics between the two languages, which I found interesting.
Hebrew is a Holy language, there is no doubt in my mind.
The most popular song, and the final song of the evening, is B'Midbar or "In the Desert".
Interesting that B'Midbar was the Torah Portion we were reading that Sabbath that John called! Coincidence? I don't think so.
I sometimes wonder if we will be "in the wilderness" someday, if we are, I pray that we are with God-fearing people like were assembled last night.
After the concert, we stayed as late as we were allowed. They were turning off lights and locking doors while we were leaving. I didn't get back until after midnight.
Was I dreaming? No. It was real-life. Just as everything of real consequence is real-life. The worship is real and people are real, the music is real. Israel is real, the God we worship is real and the Messiah at His Right Hand is real. Bless His Holy Name!

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin
We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.
No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny
Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.
Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.
