We Are Alive! June 27th, 2024 No Soliciting
After a number of very hot days, we are getting some relief! Everything cooled right down, making my door to door much easier. No sweat in my eyes!
I visited several doors that already had my lit sitting there! That means the work I'm doing, has already been done recently. I notified "management" but they didn't seem too concerned.
Sometimes I can just tell there are some homes that probably should NOT be knocked. Sort of an instinctual thing, requiring great discernment and observation.
I visited a neighborhood of condominiums with a sign at the entrance saying "No Soliciting". What I'm doing is NOT soliciting, however most people don't know the difference.
The rules are simple: only knock between 9 am and 9 pm. Do not ask for money. Do not offer to sell any good or service. That's it!
Conversations (including questions) are protected speech and does not require a permit and is NOT considered a "solicitation". I do not ask them to sign anything, I do not ask them to give me money. All I ask for is a minute or so of time, a short conversation and I leave.
Residents are free to decline a conversation, they can say "not interested" or "no thank you". They can tell me to "go away", but as long as I stay at their front door, I am not trespassing or soliciting.
I smile and say "have a good day" and move on.
But signs like these lump free speech conversations under the banner of "soliciting" when the only soliciting is asking for donations or trying to sell a good or service.

Many people on Hive will never get to spend any of their Hive as it may become illegal in certain countries
I think really people saying no soliciting are just trying to sound official which would make sense cause i agree it is not being used correctly.

Some people are open and some are not it really is just that simple, regardless i would avoid any house saying go away 🤣
