We got back Friday, but it was a busy day before Sabbath. Now that the sun is down, I'm back online and back on the blockchain.

The Adventure Begins

We left on Tuesday the 18th and drove most of the day. What was estimated to be a 4.5 hour drive, somehow became a 6 hour drive, with detours, rest stops, traffic and food. We got there with plenty of time to set up camp before dark, which is good! We anticipated delays.

We rented a "group site" and it was much larger than we imagined. There's enough room to put up a dozen tents here!

The tent went up easily, but unloading and unpacking takes some time. We have four cots to assemble, two air mattresses and eight sleeping bags. Whew!

We unloaded our trailer with all our supplies. Our little Highlander moved the big trailer all the way across Michigan!

This is our first camping trip where we brought bicycles. The children were so excited, it gave them lots of pleasure riding the bikes around!

There was even a hill in our campsite the children could ride down. WEEEE!

We installed the wood stove, bunk bed cots, air mattresses and lights in the tent.

It's cozy on the inside and on the outside!

Dinner was chili on the propane camp stove. Yum!

We bought some over-priced wood ($8) and I built our first camp fire. It was a great first day (Tuesday) at the campsite.

The next day, we get to see Lake Michigan and the giant sand-dunes! We are walking distance to the water and could hear the waves all night long.

Oooh, the anticipation!
