We Are Alive! December 17th, 2022 Sabbath

Today started out very relaxed, but as we had committed to attending fellowship in the afternoon, the time slipped away very quickly. Just as we were scrambling to get everyone's socks and shoes and coats on, one of our children decided to "paint her nails". Daddy's not big on the whole shiny nails thing for his children under 10, especially not on sabbath, especially without adult supervision and especially not in dad and mom's room over carpet.

SPLASH

Just as we were about to leave, we were already late, we heard one of our little ones say "I'm so very very sorry" Ut oh. We walked into our bedroom and found the entire contents of nail polish on the floor in the carpet.

Oh boy.

It was a lesson in patience as we got the situation cleaned up. We were about a half-hour late to the gathering, but it wasn't too bad. Daddy and mommy both had to have a moment to breath and calm ourselves so we may have Sabbath peace, or anyday peace!

Daddy did not throw away the nail polish, but he put them away for a while. Next time, nail painting will not be over carpet and will be with adult supervision.

No last minute surprises!

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations. Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. Hello my friend! 😊

I feel for you both as we have been through the same situation, only the colour was bright pink instead of clear, still nasty trying to get nail polish out of carpet, no matter the colour/lack of colour. I wish you luck. The stain is still in the carpet from our daughter's nail painting experiment and it happened over a decade ago. We can laugh about it now, but I'll admit we didn't handle it as well as you and your wife though, much yelling and crying and gnashing of teeth (between my handsome husband and I) before we started the cleanup. Oh well, that is life with children, you either learn patience or lose your mind. With my grandchildren it's easier to be patient than it was with our children and I'm not sure why that is though...because we're older and more mellow or just don't have the energy to get aggravated as much now, no idea. LOL! 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

Thank you for your wonderful comment I always enjoy hearing from you!

the colour was bright pink

Oh I can only imagine! Bright pink? SMH.

The stain is still in the carpet from our daughter's nail painting experiment and it happened over a decade ago.

Somehow my wife was able to get the paint out of the carpet... mostly. There is still a stain that I don't think will be gone, pretty much forever. 10 years? Oh boy, what a reminder!

We can laugh about it now,

Thankfully, we are already laughing over the situation, our children were all very sad over the situation, but daddy and mommy had to get over it very quickly for the sake of the peace of the home.

much yelling and crying and gnashing of teeth

Sometimes certain details are softened for these posts, rest assured there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth in our home... for a time. But peace was restored quickly.

learn patience or lose your mind

Yup.

we're older and more mellow or just don't have the energy to get aggravated as much now

Both myself and my wife have accomplished 40+ years of life and our energy levels have changed over the decade or so of marriage so far. Probably good to not get aggravated, but deal with situations with maturity.

Always love hearing your thoughts! Shalom!

You're most welcome! I always love a good chat with friends! 😊

Your wife must share her secret for nail polish removal, I tried using nail polish remover, stain guard, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and a few other things, but none of them worked and some just smeared it worse, but I got it to a level that I could live with without cringing every time I walked into the room and hadn't thought about it in ages, until reading this post actually. So that just shows you, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a bit deal, but at the time it sure felt like it was. That holds true for a lot of things that we used to get worked up over when our children were growing up, but looking back, a lot of it was just wasted energy and stress over unimportant things. I'm so glad that you and your wife learned that lesson faster than we did, it's better for the whole family when you can do that. 😊

My handsome husband and I have been married for 31 years (32 in June) and we've done a lot of growing up over all those years together. We still have issues, but don't let them get to us like we did in the beginning of our marriage. Thank God for that too, He's made a big difference in our marriage over the years since we asked Christ to become our saviour and that's another way you and your wife are ahead of us, you knew Christ when you got married and we didn't find him until we were seven years in and heading for a divorce. Again, we can plan and plan and figure out what we want our lives to look like, but if God has other plans ours won't come to fruition the way we thought, but we will be blessed if we're patient and trust God. That is what I'm choosing to do, trusting God to get us through the hurdles that Satan throws our way. You're right though, its "good to not get aggravated, but deal with situations with maturity", no matter what it is. 😊

Your wife must share her secret for nail polish removal

She used rubbing alcohol and lots of... rubbing. I was shocked, I really thought we were going to have a permanent streak across our floor.

He's made a big difference in our marriage over the years since we asked Christ to become our saviour

This makes me so happy to hear! He does restore the divine natural order that was ordained from His Father from the beginning!

When my son was little, my home was often a mess, he painted on the walls, on chairs and stuff like that... back then I didnt have the time to really do much about it, I just gave up in the end and waited till he got bigger and problem was solved... I dont know how it would have been with 6 small ones.... children are doing messy stuff...

thats part of it all... today he is big and dont do these sort of stuff...

I'm glad your son doesn't still paint on the walls, maturity does help prevent that sort of behavior.
