We Are Alive! August 12th, 2023 A Perfect Camping Day

A Perfect Camping Day

After our misadventures the following night, we were hopeful for a good day and especially a good night. It's just a one full day camping trip, with two evenings, so we want to make the best of this day.

The weather was perfect: the humidity dropped and so did the temperature. It was sunny and warm, perfect weather for swimming. The four oldest played at the boat launch dock, while mamma went with the little ones to the store for some supplies.

Campfire

When we came back to camp, we split some wood for the evening campfire. I had lots of help chopping the logs into smaller kindling.

Our log splitter is fun, just place the log on the blade and whap it with a hammer!

Even my youngest wanted to help. He thought wood chopping was hilarious.

We got a nice pile of wood for the campfire and Daniel put together a very nice "log cabin" for us.

The fire started out small, but began to get larger and larger.

Daniel decided to roast a leaf over the camp fire.

The fire became very large and hot! What a great job on the camp fire!

Dinner and Glowsticks

For dinner, we all gathered together and had chicken and campfire potatoes and greenbeans. It was delicious!

A friendly squirel came over to see if she could get some food from us. We wondered if it was one of the squirrels from our yard!

After diner we visited the playground and the children had lots of fun playing on the equipment. We stayed until dark and returned to our site and got out the glowsticks. The children went to other campsites and offered them glowsticks to play with.

It was fun seeing all these glowing lights dancing around in the dark.

It was a great end to a fun day of camping. Even being tired from the previous night, we enjoyed this day. We went to bed soon after this and to our great relief there were no mosquitos in the tent.

We all fell asleep right away and there was a cool breeze blowing through the tent that made things very comfortable. We only woke up once to blow up the air mattress and my wife and I looked out the window and watched our friend the baby skunk walk right past our window. He was relaxed, ignored us and didn't appear threatened. I don't think either of us has been so close to a skunk before!!!

Time to Pack Up... But first Coffee

We woke up after sunrise, refreshed and ready for the day. It was a much better night's sleep and we woke up feeling very refreshed. We had to pack up the campsite and be out by 11, so we got breakfast started right away.

In the morning, I was admiring how neat the campsite was maintained. It's easy for a campsite to become very disorderly, but everything looked to be in order. I've been careful to keep things neat, but my wife has been even more diligent to organize and secure our belongings overnight. No raccoons or skunks or squirrels getting into our food box!

My daughter made us breakfast, which was a nice treat!

When my little girl woke up, she was sad, but cheered up after some Mamma hugs.

Breakfast was amazing, cheesy eggs, fresh fruit and coffee. Doesn't get much better then that!

Our friend the squirrel visited again and she was treated to a blueberry from mamma. The squirrel was so tame, she accepted the berry right from mamma's hand.

I returned home to pick up the trailer while the rest of the family began packing up camp. My youngest wanted to help with the trailer, because that's what MEN do.

I was pleased to see everything lined up to be put away. I began right away disassembling the double cots.

As we packed items up, we lined them by the trailer to be loaded.

My two big girls get gold stars for their excellent help packing up the trailer.

When the trailer was all packed up, the family celebrated! It was 12:00, an hour after checkout, but it wasn't a problem. We got the entire campsite packed up and neatly loaded into the trailer in three hours!

It was a good end to the camping trip. Even with the very rough start, we had a good full day of camping and a good day packing up.

Now we get home and prepare for Sabbath and rest after our big adventure. A good time to heal from bug bites and sunburns.

All-in-all it was a very enjoyable stay by the lake.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Bank Bailout Special!

It's happening, folks. The banks are going under! To educate our children about what is going on, there is a "Bank Bailout Book Bonanza" going on with the Tuttle Twins! Use coupon code FORTY for 40% off your purchase! Check out the books here.
