We Are Alive! April 19th, 2023 Forsythia Flower Pie

Children to today are gathering lots of forsythia flowers for our annual Forsythia Flower Pie. It's a buttermilk custard with forsythia flowers flavoring it. The pie is quite good!

It's a treat for us, both to pick the flowers and to make (and eat) the yummy pie! We'll make it tonight, but the first part is always fun: picking the flowers!

The flowers are edible and add a nice flavor to the custard pie.

Have you ever tried Forsythia Flower Pie?

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Bank Bailout Special!

It's happening, folks. The banks are going under! To educate our children about what is going on, there is a "Bank Bailout Book Bonanza" going on with the Tuttle Twins! Use coupon code FORTY for 40% off your purchase! Check out the books here.

Have you ever tried Forsythia Flower Pie?

I'd say no. This is fascinating and got me curious on how it tastes. How I wish there's virtual taste test. LOL! I've read about recipes where they add flowers, but I haven't really tried any flower dish, so to speak. When the time comes, I'd love to try. :) an advance happy weekend...

!LOLZ it was a bit of a rhetorical question, I didn't try it until a few years ago, I knew very few have ever tried anything like this. It tastes mostly like a custard pie but it is colored yellow by the flowers!

Hello my friend! 😊

I've never even heard of Forsythia before and didn't know it was edible and could be put into a pie. I look forward to seeing the pie making process and the end product. I'll have to see if I can find some and give it a try if yours looks as yummy as you make it sound. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

Thank you for the blessing! We didn't know it was edible until recently and it's become a yearly tradition around here. There's a large forsythia bush outside our window, we figured we should make some good use of it! Right now the flowers are soaking in buttermilk, next step will be to make the actual pie!

You're most welcome my friend!

Awesome, you learned something new and are making use of your knowledge, and I can't wait to see it. 😊

Do you make your own buttermilk or buy it from the store? I've never made my own, but it's something I'd like to try in the future. 😊

All the ingredients are from the store except the flowers, they were picked from a bush on my parent's property next door.

Still a very cool project with some valuable life skills thrown in, so it was also educational for your children and the rest of us that have never made this (or any, for some of us,) pie or pie crust before. It was neat to see the pictures of the different steps/stages of the process. 😊

Super cool Benjamin! So many flowers are edible, though I had never heard of anyone making anything with Forsythia flowers until now! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I found these at a shop I was delivering to. Are these the same flowers, do you think?
