Heavy Rains

We had a sudden cloudburst today and an amazing amount of rain dropped on us. It began around 11:00 when it got so dark outside it looked almost like night-time. Then the rain came down very heavy.

The water collected in the street and eventually spilled over into the grass and onto the sidewalk. This street has flooded ever since I was little - there's photos of me swimming in the street when I was a little child. Decades later, any heavy rain results in our street flooding.

Our 7 Year Old's Essay

After the rain let up, the children played a bit in the water. They marveled at how high the water got. My seven-year-old wrote a paper on it called "The Street Flooded".

"The street flooded and we are playing in the street. It is fun. It is very deep on the driveway and in the middle it is up to Abigail's legs."

It's fun how events in our life become homework for our children.

Returning to Normal

Thankfully the rain has finished and the water is receding. We are thankful for a good sump pump, an elevated yard and a drain that (eventually) catches up. For a while there, I wondered if our home would be washed away! Praise Yah for His Mercy!

I think we can use our car now, instead of having to row out with a boat!
