Drip Drip, Brewing Uncertain Coffee Beans into Coffee

avatar

In my previous post, I described the process of roasting a unique blend of raw coffee beans called "uncertain blend" which is the bottoms of various bags of coffee beans all jumbled together. Never know exactly what you'll get!

Uncertain blend is described by coffeproject.com:

A blend in flux. This blend represents what we're packing the most of. Escapees are gathered together in a melting pot of taste. Affordable if you want something to play with and practice. Look for notes of unicorn, moon rock, winsome, and meander, with a long-lasting meditative finish. Like a great classic novel, it's never the same twice.

After cooling the beans overnight, I placed the roasted bean blend into the coffee mill, and proceeded to grind a few tablespoons of beans into a ground powder.

image.png

On the top of the grind, you can see chaff that is very lightweight and doesn't add much to the flavor. Under this is the finer powder, perfect for making a good pour-over brew.

image.png

The secret for a good pour-over brew is to carefully pour the hot water (not boiling) over the grounds very slowly, allowing a "bloom" and filtration. Once the first pour is done, it's tempting to add more water, but it's better to simply extract from that first pour - put this virgin coffee concentrate into a heated mug and add hot water to top it out.

I will usually do a second or third pour, but it's never quite as good as that first one.

image.png

I poured the brew into a heated mug and observed the color. A deep brown with yellowish edges. Thick and rich, with an unusual coffee aroma. I took a sip and relished the flavor, unlike any other coffee I've had before. It's not extremely strong, had notes of dark chocolate, raisins, burnt toast, smoke and grapefruit.

These beans have been in storage since 2016 and these taste completely fresh. Pre-roasted coffee is usually very stale after six years sitting around, but storing them green preserves the flavor. All in all, this turned out pretty good - although not exactly as advertised, I haven't been able to detect any unicorn or moon rock.

Contemplating the flavor, it does have "a long-lasting meditative finish".

The people doing V2K want me to believe it is this lady @battleaxe Investigate what she has been up to for 5 years. Its the next step to stopping this. Make her prove where she has been for 5 years or where she is now. She is involved deeply with @fyrstikken and his group. Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant say she is the one directly doing the v2k. Make her prove it. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Make @battleaxe prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the v2k in me is being broadcasted from her location. @battleaxe what is your location? https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

So your process and progress with the coffee went well. I can't think of drinking coffee without milk, hehe.

Thank you for the curation! I've always been of the opinion that sugar/milk/cream is to disguise bad coffee. I can't think of diluting this rich yumminess with milk!

That looks some nice coffee. After I started working from home, I stopped drinking coffee (even if it was the cheap stuff) but I may have to try a cup every now and then.

Like Jon said, there is a mistake in the link so you should always preview the mail before sending out.

Glad you found me on listnerds, I'll be more careful with the links, getting in the habit of previewing first is a good idea!

your Listnerds link is broken.

Glad you made it here anyway, I noticed the problem, but once it's sent, there's no fixing it!

Found you on Listnerds, I see others mentioned the error, not such a big deal but we copied and pasted.

The tough part of a blend is getting an even roast with different beans, but in the end its probably going to be a more enjoyable experience 'doing it yourself'. Cheers!
