I'm having fun going through some of my older collection that I found in the basement. These are various picks I obtained between 2007 - 2010
This time, I found a 2009 Proof set. Presidential dollar proofs, quarter proofs and a special penny set.
It's the penny set that caught my attention.
Special Designed Pennies
In 2009, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln penny, the design on the obverse featured special events in Lincoln's life.
Looking closely at the proof specimen, I noticed the bottom is turning "silver". It seems the copper plating is wearing off? Something odd is happening, I have proof pennies that are changing color!
